This new "feature" works for me and I can see the HKCU\Software\NPVR key Personally my SD 4:3 output is a mix of letter box and pillar box anyway so I don't see this being a big time saver and worse my HD get streched with Remove LetterBox so I will end up using F7 even more. Can this be configured off?

Ditto, this patch has me using F7 nearly every time. Sad I reverted the patch, but if it goes forward, it needs to be configurable.

lol - I cant win. Big Grin GBPVR did the same thing (restoring previous aspect ratio), and wasnt configurable, yet no one posted about wanting to be able to turn it off.

If GB-PVR worked as well for HD for me as NPVR I probably would have asked, plus I've been spoiled by NPVR's lack of need for F7

Odd, because I never needed F7 in GB-PVR.

In theory it's doing the exact same thing as GBPVR now, so what excatly is it that you're not happy with? ie, which precise scenario ends up with a different result than what you were getting in GBPVR?

In GB-PVR all the SD were .mpg and all the HD were .ts. My playback codec settings got the aspect ratio right. Now, everything is .ts (which I like), most of my content is HD, which the "auto" setting seems to get right, but the SD AR is never right. With the patch, it's a crapshoot which AR was last selected. Since most of my content is HD now, I see that I prefer 16x9 to be sticky.

Then there are the SD stations showing HD content pillarboxed and letterboxed...can't win...

Is there any specific reason you're not just leaving your aspect ratio on 'Auto'? That is what you should be doing. If it's that's what you'd prefer to do, but it's not showing the correct aspect ratio, you should make a short recording and put it somewhere I can download, and I'll check why.

Do you have a widescreen TV, or 4:3?

There are some valid reasons why a person might need to use F7, but those are pretty rare scenarios. For the most people, leaving it on 'auto' should do the job. ie, if you had a 16:9 screen, were on auto, and tried it to play a 4:3 video, then it should show automatically with black bars left and right. Like wise if you tried to play a 16:9 video, then it should fill the screen. Neither of these should require F7.

For me I have my STB set to always output 720p output because the graph always get built with the previous resolution and the adjustment was causing a lot of grief. As a result in all SD output is full screen with embedded pillar box which Auto doesn't detect. If you could implement my old wishlist item to tune the HDPVR twice I could probably use dynamic resolution and Auto.

Widescreen TV. I do leave the aspect ratio on 'Auto', and that has generally worked. I'll collect some of the odd videos for you.
