It should be there, especially if you are going to serve a mix of MVP, NMT and linux PC clients. I can add this if you want.

I would be happy. It will certainly be more convenient and foolproof preventing users to specify wrong combinations of ports.

Thanks for this.
I am somewhat surprised, not to say gobsmacked that I jave managed to get this to work on my "joggler" device see: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...O2-Joggler
I managed to get it to boot ububtu 10.10 (I think) from a USB stick, installed this software along with mplayer and it sort of works.
It is just a touch screen device and touches seem to be ignored with this application. I have to VNC into the device to control it via the PC keyboard - the PC mouse is ignored as well).
But it displays menu's and recordings fine - live TV does not work at present.
I have spent very little time on it as yet, so things can only get better.

One of the reasons I stopped my Android port (for my tablet) was that the MVP protocol doesn't support mouse clicks or actions that you get in VNC. They could be added I suppose but I felt the client and server side work required are worth the effort.

I suppose I did it out of curiosity and thoughts of maybe using it as a way of finding/scheduling shows without powering up the TV and stuff.
There is an onscreen keyboard available but seems to be locked out when the emulator is running. Just a tiny clickable cursor pad with enter and escape would make it usable. As there is only one USB port and that is used by the memory stick, I can't use a local keyboard without a hub and that starts making it all a bit clumsy.
I guess it is not a practical device anyway more an exercise to let me know how far linux has moved one from my old days of using it as justa file and web server.

I wonder if it would be possible to run the linux client on OS X?

Building it for OS X would be a possibility but I don't know hove much porting would needed. Might try when it moves out of alpha.

Hi tmrt

I saw that you made an update not so long ago and I have tried to run xnpvrcli on my Ubuntu Natty laptop.
I have compiled xnpvrcli and patched an compiled mplayer. when I run the application the NPVR GUI is displayed and I can navigate and schedule recording but i I can't play any video. I get the following error message from mplayer: "unknow profile: 'xnpvrcli' Error parsing option on command line: -profile"

Do you have any idea what is wrong?

In order to be able to customize mplayer settings for each particular setup independently of the general mplayer settings I have introduced profiles which are defined usualy in ~/.mplayer/config. There are four profiles: xnpvrcli, xnpvrcli-HD, xnpvrcli-alt, xnpvrcli-HD-alt. xnpvrcli is used by default, xnpvrcli-HD when the video width is more than 720 and the option -a is used. The alt profiles are fall-back profiles and are tried if mplayer fails to recognize the media file. I use them to skip the beginning of corrupted media files.

Thanks for the quick reply, adding an empty xnpvrcli profile gave me some live TV.
Could you share your profiles as a base for my experiments?
