The normal usage is that the other computer(s) har npvr installed in client mode, ie. the client(s) connects to the npvr server that does the recording and has the capture devices. You can then connect a tv-set to the client(s) and watch your recordings on the tv.

That log doesnt show your attempt to play the file. Try again, and this time zip the log file up immediately after playing the file. If you restart NextPVR, then log file will be overwritten, losing the stuff I want to see.

Sorry reddwarf, yes i only use the Npvr to record. I don't use it on a tv or watch tv on it or play back recordings on it. I like to have the freedom of using whatever source i like to watch it, eg media player, on a tv through the network etc. Much more flexability here. Maybe there is a restriction with npvr with hd content, using outside of the program. Though saying that every other pvr software i have works, where-ever i want to watch their recordings. Though saying that, their GUI is nothing compared to NPVR, so the reason i really want npvr to provide me with this service. Windows media centre to me is #rap as it will only allow you to record on the c:\ and will only record in WTV format, which is not that transportable, eg my beyonwiz pvr ( which i use to pick up my recordings over the network ) will not recognise them. anyway back to it. I'll do the log today, but i don't think it will show anything as it plays back fine using NPVR. Playing back in windows programs it has picture but no sound ( NPVR logs won't pick this up - or am i wrong )

For digital broadcasts NextPVR just writes whatever the TV station is broadcasting to disk so playing back through whatever other software you decide is just a case of getting the right codecs & priorities etc. for that software.

As he said, there is no restriction from npvr's side, so if you don't get sound in WMP is is missing the codes for sound. Have you tried VLC?

Yep - what he said. NPVR isnt doing anything weird to your recording. It just dumps the broadcast to disk. If your player doesnt like it, then either its your dont have the appropriate decoder installed, or the player doesnt like something about your broadcaster's data. There is no settings in NPVR that will make any difference to this.

As reddwarf suggests above, I'm sure if you try it in VLC you'll find the audio is there.

I just did a quick check and WMP on Win 7 plays NPVR HD .ts files just fine, as expected. I do have AC3 filter installed; I don't know what audio decoder WMP was using. There is a small Doly Digital logo on the bottom left of the WMP window.

Hi everyone. Well i think i have solved the problem. My beyonwiz pvr ( don't ever buy one ) seems to be most of the problem, back through the tv. On the weekend i bought a WD Live media streamer from office works $108. This will play all my hd recording with sound from my recorded tv, from my array of 4 usb tuners. The picture quality is excellent. I solved the problem of choppy playback by making all my routers wan ports set to auto and not 10/100 Full. Still use vlc to play hd recorded tv to any computer in the house. So finally i am making absolute full useage of the NPVR ( Again what a fantastic product ) But a classic is hat Windows media center won't play through this, but who cares because microsoft are so locked down that one day it will be their undoing. I'm a home v watcher who, wants to record tv to whatever device in the house. I want it to record to folders of the tv shows name. I want to use a codec that siutes me and works for me and that can play on a multitude of devices, Microsoft NPVR does this.......... Smile couldn't help that Smile hopefully i have helped others in som way as you guys have helped me.
