Awesome.

A crash was one outcome, but it since it was trampling memory it could also have caused some other unexpected bebaviours too. Good to have fixed it.

Sorry, it crashed again tonight. This time at 1:35am, immediately after it stopped the recording of Grey's Anatomy (which does not record during the week). So here's the timeline:

00:35 - started Grey's anatomy
01:00 - started South Park
01:30 - finished South Park
01:30 - started Zula Patrol
01:35 - finished Grey's Anatomy
01:35 - CRASH (crash.mdmp is timestamped 01:35)
01:38 - (approximately) I acknowledge the nrecord crash.mdmp message, NRecord exits.

The Zula Patrol recording is approximately 5 minutes, 20 seconds long. This implies it ended with the crash, not when I acknowledged the crash message.

So it seems that the crash happens to the Zula Patrol recording immediately after a recording ends on the other tuner. Usually that's at 1:30am, but not tonight.

bump. just wanted to make sure you'd seen that I had another crash. it did get through the next night's recordings (last night), which had the same basic sequence as saturday night (ie grey's anatomy at 00:35, zula patrol at 01:30), but without the South Park at 01:00.

tonight resumes the regular weekday schedule with 2 south parks at 01:00 and 01:30, and zula patrol at 01:30.

Unfortunately your version of NPVRTSMon.ax is no longer the same as mine, so I can load the debug symbols for it. Can you reproduce it with this version, then post the crash.mdmp again?

thanks sub. I've put in the new version, so we'll see what happens tonight.

ok, this time it crashed at 6am as it attempted to end a different recording (Magic School Bus) on a different channel (Qubo). the recording was all by itself, no other recordings running concurrently or following. I have no idea if this crash is for any of the same reasons or not, but I have a crash.mdmp just the same.

this looks like the old tuner-won't-stop problem - "Async stop taking way too long", though the tuner did actually stop - the recording is complete (but marked Failed after restarting NRecord of course), and 30 minutes long as it should be.

This one is definitely different. It doesnt seem to have died in NPVR's code. Instead its crashed in the Microsoft Network Provider code (MSNP.ax). I'm not sure why though.

ok, I figured it'd be that way. ever since this 'tuner-won't-stop' problem started you've always said it looked like it was crashing outside of NPVR and this crash dump confirms it. the odd thing is that it does seem to stop the tuner - the recording file quits growing on time, and I'm able to restart NRecord and use both tuners again without needing to reboot. at any rate, this problem is far less common than the 1:30am crash.

I see you posted a new NPVRTSMon.ax with extra logging in the 'missing a channel' thread trying to find channel 33.1. I presume I'll need to install that version (or any further version you come up with) before tonight?

I expect there will be a newer one again in a few minutes as I work through his problem.
