johnsonx42, I removed the .bat file and the 2 temp. files from the SoftPVR folder, leaving just the Wintv7 file. I downloaded and ran the .bat file (you pointed to) within the SoftPVR folder and the exact same thing happens. It creates 2 temp folders etc. Within the temp 1 folder there are .ax & .dll pertaining to Wintv7.
The SoftPVR folder is located inside the NPVR program folder. The NPVR foler contains .ax &.dll files. relating to npvr.

As a side note, when viewing the settings screen in NPVR, there is a red lettered:
"Warning-The DirectX runtime is not available on this machine. Software rendering instead".

Not sure is that is part of the problem or not.
Enclosed screen shot of opening the .bat, there was also a brief display of an installer.
Thanks again

I don't know what to tell you on the .bat file. It does exactly what it's supposed to do for me. Did you wait until the batch file ends completely? It takes awhile where it appears to be doing nothing.

Regarding the DirectX error message, make sure you've installed the latest DirectX runtime update as linked in the wiki (http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...requisites). If that doesn't resolve it, update your graphics card driver as well.

I tried it again this morning waiting 10 minutes and still nothing. After about 1 minute the "place holder?" under the last line starts to blink as if it is waiting for me to enter something, but thats about it. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks again.
Malc

P.S. Your link to to the Pre-requisites is where i went to get the link to DirectX

Update: I just uninstalled NPVR, Wintv7 & the batch file. Reinstalled the same and got the same results of it not extracting. Ugh

Unless the batch file ends naturally, it's not completing. You shouldn't close it yourself.

I have since left the batch file running for several hours and nothing has changed. Would it help to run the Wintv7 .exe directly, if it will let me, within the SoftPVR folder.

Another side note: After running the batch file, if I try to delete the Wintv7 download from the SoftPVR folder, the computer won't let me. Says it is being used by another program.(NPVR?) Once I remove NPVR and restart the computer, it will allow me to delete. So it must be incorporated into NPVR in some manner, just not how it's supposed to be.

no, it's not incorporated into npvr at all. it won't let you remove the WinTV7 download because it's still running the installer. I don't know why the installer won't finish on your system.

try this, just for giggles:

reboot, just to make sure the wintv7 installers isn't still trying to run
make a new folder in the root of the C: drive, call it SoftPVR (in other words, the path will be C:\SoftPVR)
download a new copy of the WinTV7 installer, just to be sure that you have a good copy, and put it in the C:\SoftPVR folder
download and unzip the batch file attached to this message and run it, see what happens.

edit: please make sure the file that you downloaded from this message is called "SoftPVR (fixed)". The first version I had attached for a minute or two was called "SoftPVR (updated)" and had a bunch of mistakes in it.

malc2. No offense here meant and I hope none taken. But you seem to me to be mucking about with some very clear instructions. IF the instructions are unclear then you can help a lot by posting your experience here

I cannot see how you have got yourself in such a muddle?

All of us are here to help.

I also think his instructions have been clear and I've had no problem following them to the letter. I'm definitely not mucking about, I'm just reporting back that all variations have resulted in the same result. I appriciate that johnsonx42 has taken the time to help me try solve this problem. I also see that 300+ viewers have been reading this thread so maybe others have had the same problem and simply gave up.
Thanks,
Malc

I added the Part 1 and Part 2 text to give a clue where it is getting stuck. Apparently it is failing to complete the initial extraction of the installer; unfortunately I have no way to know what it's problem is. Neither part of the extraction takes much longer than 15 seconds on my computer, if that.

After letting it run for a good while, check the Temp1 directory and see if there's a file named "WinTV7Setup.exe" approximately 30mb in size. If so, it has at least extracted the file you need for part 2. Edit the batch file, delete line 10 which says "C:\SoftPVR\wintv7_cd_2.3g.exe /x C:\SoftPVR\temp1" and run it again. It will skip past part 1 and try to go on with part 2. You may yet have success.

Otherwise, I sent you a private message earlier; look in the upper right corner where it says "notifications".
