I also had incomplete EPG twice back in January but since then I occasionally had missing Pending Recordings which could be related. Yesterday morning I found I only had 33 pending recordings after the overnight EPG update which I knew was wrong so did a manual update and then had 96 pending recordings. Before I posted the logs and database I wanted the log of a good EPG update to compare with the log of the faulty update and this morning there were 87 pending recordings. However when I looked at the NRecord.log it only found 1 recording was set! I do a nightly reboot at 02:20 and looked at the latest NRecord.log and there was a second EPG update at 02:24 which found 87 recordings.

Comparing the logs of the EPG update which found 1 recording and the one which found 87 the main difference is the number of Saved Listings for each channel. For the good EPG update most channels had well over 50 listings but for the faulty update listing below 10 were found. At the 02:20 reboot I make a backup of the database and that only has 1000 EPG entries but after the second EPG update there are 7837 entries. Another difference between the two updates is that the ndigitalhost log has the tuning info for the second EPG update but nothing for the original 02:00 update.

I am using 2.3.6 R1 patches. Enclosed is the database after the faulty EPG update and the logs covering both EPG updates.

Hi,

I'm also having this problem. Some channels get near full EPG, some get random shows, some get none at all.

Oddly, channels on the same multiplex do not behave the same way. RTE1 got no EPG data, RTE2 got full EPG data. Both are on same multiplex.

Logs attached.

Thanks for any advice. Smile

NumberFive was this a manual scan in the logs above because the EPG update appears in NPVR.log instead of NRecord.log? For most people the manual update is ok but its the automatic which causes the problem.

Hi,

Manual. Both cause me problems. Sub says somewhere that they both run same code.

Its kind of difficult to track down this type of problem, because its hard to know exactly what epg data you should be getting. Like anything I need good info to help track it down. Ideally I'd like logs from both an automated update and a manual update, both from approximately the same time of the day

So, I'd like to see logs form the following.
1) do an 'empty epg'
2) set epg update hour to current hour.
3) restart recording services
4) leave it 10 minutes or so to do the EPG update, then upload the nrecord.log and ndigitalhost.log files.

then,
1) set the epg update hour back to 2am or similar and restart recording service.
2) do an 'empty epg'
3) do an 'update epg'
4) let it complete, then upload the npvr.log

Hi sub,

Logs attached as requested. EPG seems to have populated in both cases.

Thanks Smile

Thanks, but I was hoping to see the situation where people were describing the automated EPG update not giving full listings, but the maual one was.

I'll see what I can do, although I've found that both give me incomplete listings (both behave identically). What I have noticed is that if you watch a DVB-T channel for a little while, the EPG populates itself (is it scanning the live feed for updates?). Perhaps some users are confusing this with a manual update giving better results (just a hypothesis!). Smile

Not precisely to the schedule you asked for sub, but this happened today...

Automatic update at 05:00 on the 27th (missing channels and empty timeslots) - manual update at 17:56 on the 27th after I noticed gaps in the EPG via NEWA fixed it.

BTW I don't use this machine for live TV.

Hi,

I must have tried this half a dozen times now and I can't reproduce the error. I'm wondering if emptying the EPG has helped in some way.

I'll report back at the first sign of trouble. Smile
