Did you also search for hidden folders?

Nope. The only folder besides gbpvr (which I deleted) is "root".

I deleted the root folder as well without any luck. Is there no way to get more debug info from the webserver?

It's a long shoot but do you have an ipv4 localhost defined in your hosts file?

make sure vlc player is installed on pc's 2.0.2 is good from videolan.org
npvr uses vlc to stream and for web browser viewing from the NEWA guide

open vlc on the nvpr pc
open network stream from media menu or ctrl+n
type in http://localhost:8866/live?channel=1 or the numbers from channel list

when streaming over wifi or ethernet replace localhost with the ip of your pc that you are streaming from... in the vlc player ,browser,or device you are streaming to.
example http://192.168.xx.1:8866/live?channel=1 replace the xx with the proper numbers.

check wireless network adapter properties for each ip

temporarily turn off windows firewall. then start adding programs allowed to windows firewall til it works while on.

open npvr settings
go to nmt and web tab
enable web server
set number of servers
set other options

open ports or forward ports thru your router...OR

i use connectify on my pc instead of a router and stream to other wifi devices like samsung galaxy tab... using vplayer or even better super video from play market (free). you can stream from pc with npvr on it to htpc ,xbox whatever with connectify. free

hope this helps you or others

Is tuning and streaming working on VLC v2.02? v2 broke that for me (and others so I read) and I'm still using v1.1.11 which works.

I read this whole thread and haven't seen mentioned getting the OS back to a known good state- like formatting and reinstalling the OS, or if one is proactive- restoring an image backup (Acronis, Ghost, etc.) from when it was working. Windows is very fragile and it's important to have image backups available to easily (and quickly) get back to known good states.

I make multiple images, 1st one when I buy the box before first boot (or if I did the build myself, after the first boot), then another after Windows updates, then another after installing software, and more whenever I do anything significant enough to be a PIA to have to redo. And keep a revision history of what each backup means in case I need to revert to one of them. Done this ever since the first version of Ghost came out and couldn't imagine trying to maintain PCs without such a strategy.

Martin

127.0.0.1 and ::1 are defined as localhost

<<snip>>

The problem is that the web server isn't running at all.

Under C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\0a635572\38fd2de4\assembly, there's a bunch of folders containing copies of various NPVR DLLs along with .ini files containing references to their position in the NPVR\web\bin Config folder.

You responded "No" to having a defined an IPv4 localhost, that is required.

I actually responded "No" meaning "That's not the problem."

My machine had a number of Windows updates around the time these problems appeared. Three of them were for Microsoft NET Framework. Is it likely this could have broken something used by NPVR or NEWA? I will try another System Restore.
