live tv timeshift and other changes

I appreciate that it is not a NextPVR specific problem but the fact that the PVR addons only show the total recorded time with no clue where you are in the timeline makes timeshifting rather difficult to use and annoying. x-newa is the opposite and it shows where I am but not the total time and it cannot skip past what it thinks is end of file, which is a real annoyance after pausing. Basically XBMC is not good with growing files and until it is if you want "real" PVR timeshifting you need the NextPVR client. Unfortunately in my recent experience only the NMT client is reliable so I am in timeshifting limbo trying to decide which of xbmc pvr, x-newa or PC client is the least annoying.

As an end user I would have said at this stage they are ALL as annoying as each other....

"Timeshifting" here seems to me to be the REAL issue?

I do not see how "Timeshifting" has ever been truly resolved with anything other than the NMT and NextPVR, and to be frank that was close but not perfect?!

I would have thought that if people would like some PVR component to their software then "Timeshifting" would be quite vital...?

Just keeping an eye on this stuff :eek:

Hi Sub (or anyone else that can help)....I have the Frodo (16 November) running under a LINUX built that includes your plugin and all is working however the folloowing occurs:

1. The schedules are deleted after about 15mins, they re-add themselves if one waits for an EPG update
2. Being about to pause Live TV isn't working

I've noticed that 2.5.9 Patch 1 should have fixed point 1 above and have tried your NShared.dll to get pause working on Live TV....unfortunately none have worked...I ensured NextPVR recording service and tray was turned off when applying patches and the DLL, rebooted etc....still no luck though.

I've added experimental live tv timeshifting capabilities, and a few other changes. You can download the Windows and Linux addons from http://www.dotnetdevelopers.net/XBMC/xbmcpvr.html

For this new timeshift feature to work you also need to have installed the attached NShared.dll patch. If you dont have this patch, it falls back to the old non-timeshift live tv.

Installed the patch but i still cant get it to work .

When i first open a channel it works but as soon as i try to switch to another channel all i get is buffering then nothing .

The patch seems to of not made a difference .

I Really want to get this working as i just found nextpvr and it works great under windows ( mediaportal struggled with my HD channels )


Am i missing something ?

I'm having the same issue as backard. Once I open XBMC, the first channel usually works fine. Once I try another though, I get nothing, and often XBMC crashes completely. This is on Frodo Beta 1 on multiple machines. I have the patch applied.

I have the same issue as mvallevand.

I've had to disable timeshifting, as otherwise I get a 10-20 second bit of the program on permanent loop and the connection lost message
