I got the nanoStick T2 and installed in my HTPC, didn't bother installing the software just let Windows install the drivers.

Good news, everything is working great recording Freeview SD channels. No problems with repeat recordings and the only issue that I've got at the moment is recording HD TV. For some reason video is recorded OK, but there is no sound. No idea why and I haven't had a chance to take have a play or look at the settings. I#m sure that it will be easy to figure out. Thanks to everyone from there help!

UK HD TV uses slightly bonkers audio ... HE-AAC. It unique to the UK (or almost unique). The only decoder that I have ever got to play HD sound is LAV audio. I got my LAV from SAF http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?50227-Saf6

Did you try the DivX HE-AAC decoder? It works fine for dvb-t with HE-AAC here.

Yes ... and I got no sound. I also tried another decoder that I read would play HE-AAC (it may have been ffdshow) and that also gave no sound. I then gave up because LAV was working well.

In the past, I have spent days and weeks fiddling with all the decoders that I could find try to get the "best" video and audio. I have now decided that any gain is tiny and not worth the effort so I use C*******k for everything (except HE-AAC).

It's been a while since the last post so I thought that I'd report back my progress and I have to say that the nanoStick T2 has been great!

I've got a 100% recording record with it and had no problems at all. I even managed to solve the sound playback issue with HD recordings by upgrading Media Player Classic Home Cinema to the latest version. I can schedule recordings from Digiguide straight into NextPVR without any problems, very pleased that everything is finally working properly.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the hints and tips.

Sounds good. What's the name of the HE-AAC decoder you are now using? Has a powered USB hub proved to be necessary, as others have suggested?

I didn't need to use a powered USB hub, the nanoStick is plugged directly into a port on the motherboard.

As for the decoder, to be honest I'm not sure... The only Codecs that I have installed are Xvid, Lame ACM, FFDShow. I don't think that FFDShow is decoding as I don't see the icon in the notification area. GSpot doesn't work on my x64 HTPC, so if you have any tips on how to figure out what is decoding the audio then I'd be happy to give it a try.

In NextPVR under Settings -> Decoders, is there any choice in the dropdown list for HE-AAC Audio other than "Disabled"? If so, select it and click "OK." Perhaps whatever decoder works for Media Player Classic will also work for NextPVR. You shouldn't have to play HD recordings in another application to get audio. Graham reported good results with the LAV audio decoder, which I believe is a free download. You don't have to install the SAF6 decoder pack in order to get LAV.

HE-AAC is fairly standard with h264 in most of the world, I'm sure it's coming to N. America with ATSC 2/3 Hopefully by then there by ppasthru aac audio to AVRs and TVs.

I checked the audio decoders and the all show disabled with the exception of MPEG1 Audio. I'll try the LAV audio decoder and see how it and see how it goes, but to be honest I'm very happy that it's recording and I can play the recordings back with anything. Thanks for all your hints and tips!
