You could also check if a live tv buffer file gets created in your specified directory, and does it grow? can you copy the file, and try playing it in another player like VLC.

I tried all other decoders with the same result. Where would a live tv buffer be created? What directory? If I know that then I would watch the file growing (or not) and try playing in VLC.

npvr Settings/Misc/Buffer Directory: specifies where npvr will buffer live TV files. Make sure that this directory exists.

I have created a folder under NPVR (in Programs(X86)): Settings\Misc\Buffer and ran the LiveTV for a two or three channels. But I haven't noticed any file that is created, let alone growing.

Try creating a buffer file folder somewhere UAC won't interfere with it - maybe C:\temp and point Settings to that...

What's UAC and how do I point Settings to it? I don't quite understand what you are saying.

The application wont be able to record there. Windows permissions wont allow it.

Just create a directory like "C:\Temp\", and point it there.

UAC is a part of Windows that is designed to prevent "rogue" programs from changing the configuration of Windows. For example, you may have seen popups from UAC asking you for permission to run a software program.

Windows tries to control what happens in the "Program Files" folder to prevent malicious programs from behaving badly. It is likely that a sub-folder within the "Program Files" folder will be regarded by Windows as a risk and Windows might prevent NextPVR from storing files in that folder.

The earlier suggestions are that you should create a new folder that Windows will not consider risky. The suggestion is that you create a folder called "temp" in the root of the C: drive. You may find that the folder already exists.

After you have created the "temp" folder, you will need to go into NextPVR Settings --> Misc and set "Buffer Directory" to "C:\temp" ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ation.Misc

The C:\Temp already exists and the C:\Temp already exists in the NPVR Settings --> Misc "Buffer Directory" as "C:\Temp". I don't see any files created in the C:\Temp directory when I click on LiveTV and the screen goes black. Does that mean that there are no live channels that are being captured?

If there is no files being created, it sounds like there is something strange about the permissions on your c:\temp directory that is disallowing it permission to create the file there (or you have some firewall/antivirus software that is disallowing it).

Did your restart the recording service after changing the buffer to C:\temp in the GUI?
