I know a fix is in the works but I also purchased the app and have the same problems.....just FYI.
Watching the info on youtube, it looks great! Thanks for putting this together for us AppleTV users.

I have played with a few other pvr apps for apple tv and this is above them all in my opinion. One big problem for other apps is the buffering time due to transcoding… This just works. Very quick to play live tv and recordings.
With some initial use I can only suggest a few things to improve (Hopefully received with the good intentions in mind
Function:
1. There needs to be an ability to skip forward 30sec and back 10sec from a single press on the remote for recordings. Currently I can only swipe to timeshift which is not very user friendly. Too difficult to do a controlled skip without moving too far forward. This one feels like an important one.
2. Would be great to have more recording options like padding etc from within the app. Currently seems to be set to backend default. However, this might not suit all programs.
3. Skipping forward in a currently recording show to catchup with live tv... When seeking all the way forward and selecting, it seems to jump back to the start of the recording. However if I seek forward to say a few seconds before it is ok.
Aesthetics:
This will be different for everyone but just some comments from me. Overall, I think it’s quite good. Very easy to read and navigate.
1. The LiveTV section. Suggest this uses thumbnails instead of channel logos here.
2. The TVGUide Section. I suggest needs to implement channel logos next to channel name and thumnails next to show description when over a program.
Overall this app is very impressive and i will be using as my main apple tv app for tv and recording from now on. Hope to see continual development – Donation made!
Great - glad to hear that updated build got you going!
I'll definitely be continuing to improve the Apple TV app. This is just a first release, and in need of more polishing in places. I'll keep an eye on suggestions I receive feedback, to see what feature requests are most requested.
Just bought the app. Thought there would be an option to connect remotely, same as iOs app. For us with a (very) remote server and 1Gb Internet connections, will this be in your to-do list? Thanks!

At the moment it only streams native streams - no transcoded streams, and full ATSC streams are not really practical for streaming across the internet (very very few people have an internet connection that would be good enough for this).
Later I could look at adding support for transcoded streams, and remote connections. Can't give you an ETA at this stage.

Most of the channels I get are h264, so native is perfectly fine. But even MPEG channles stream with no issues. Allowing remote, even if only native format, would allow us to program dvr, check recordings, etc., until transcoding is implemented. Thanks for the interest!

It's not worth me adding remote access until I also add transcoding - since the vast majority of people wont have a network connection that could keep up, and it'll just lead to bad ratings on the app store.
