Ok the logs helped, it is not SD anymore that is coming from your HDHR.

On your browser if you follow this

http://192.168.1.123/discover.json

and click on the lineupUL link you you get a channel list?

If not is your firmware up to date?

Yes I see the channel list but something is rotten with HDhomerun firmware, as I installed
libhdhomerun_20190621.tgz and
hdhomerun_config_gui_20190621.tgz
per silicondust instructions here https://www.silicondust.com/support/linux/
but the firmware version shows as
hdhomerun3_atsc
"20170903"
which makes it old firmware.

Could you capture the return from the discover.json to see why nextpvr is complaining?

The legacy devices don't get the new firmware

I wanted to to follow through to the linkURL but it seems ok here.

I think I see what is going wrong though sub needs to look at it.

is returning json and sub is sending it to the lineup.xml processor.

Sub, I just checked my legacy HDHR device which I don't normally use and on linux I can duplicate the problem. It comes up with the HDHR and ATSC/QAM scanning modes and HDHR mode (which does give back a discover URL) but fails with the same json into xml error. There is not lineup.xml page on this device, just the json discovery.

No it was for sub the author of NextPVR. If you want to scan your device in ATSC mode you should be ok.
