re "Are left and right arrows immediately either side of that ok button? they should be easier to find than >> and allow you to navigate through the thumbs, and ok to jump to that location. "

But if I have a thumb every 10 seconds, and I want to skip forwards 5 minutes plus or minus 20 seconds, how fussy is that, going through 30 odd thumbs.

I don't know why you both have such a problem with me having a different preference to yourselves. I'm back on 6 now so back to the way I like it.

If you want to go several minutes, just hold the right-arrow button down, and watch the thumbnails scroll past until you get to where you want to start playback again. The thumbnail makes it super easy to see when you've reached the end of advert etc.

I'm not having a problem with it - I just think maybe you're missing that new features have been introduced to make this stuff easier. Previously people had to train their family members to press weird sequencies of keys etc to move multiple minutes etc. Where possible all that stuff still works, but we now also support just simple left/right enter, and showing thumbnails where possible, so that it works the same way as other applications family members are already used to (like netflix etc).

With thumbnails getting number skipping working was important for me so for that example 5 > and then < <

My discussion with sub is making it better for other users and I have no problem with you using v6 just like I don't have issues with the many users of SageTV, WMC, and yes even v4.

re "The thumbnail makes it super easy to see when you've reached the end of advert etc."
Not for me. First, the thumbnails are small, second, the thumbnails are stills. If I'm holding the button so they are scrolling past, I have to keep stopping to see them. In the UK, adverts throughout a program tend to be the same length, so for example, five clicks on the 60sec >> is perfect.
I do use thumbnail scrolling on the bedroom tv running the android TV app where I really have no choice, and I find it annoying.

That's easy thumbnails can be turned off. I didn't know sub added thumbnails to his app.

But if short skips can't be put back in the OSD that's no help.

Short skips are there with yaiclient anyway you are happy that's fine just.

Remember you do use NextPVR on the Internet and your .Net patch level is already a year old (plus MS has already dropped support for it) I would never run a server on the Internet that wasn't being updated.
