Thanks

Go to the directory where you have yapi2xml stored and delete any file which KS57402 in it and a .txt extension. That should fix that problem. Also, delete schedules.zip

Let me know if that doesn't work.

When I run yapi2xml.exe now I get
Run time error '76': Path not found

The text schedule seem to download fine
The schedule.zip is updated
But the xml file has the same date

If I run the updateEpg.bat nothing happens?

Thanks again

let me know your zip code so I can see if I can duplicate the error. does the file 20071030-KS57402.txt actually exist? Does the user that yapi2xml is running as have permission to write to the directory where its running?

66062 - Comcast Kansas City (It's the first one that is not digital)
MTV is channel 66 on the correct provider

20071031-KS57402.txt 11.7 MB (12,285,696 bytes) Today, October 31, 2007, 11:24:10 PM Seems OK

Is this written in VB6? I have vs2003 or 05 I may have vb6 somewhere. If it is written in one of those, I can try to run it in the debugger.
---------------------------------------------------------------
OK, I unzipped the yapi2xml zip file on my desktop - and ran it from there - it created the xml file. So I just moved it to the yapixml directory. Not sure why it works there. (My EPG is full again, thanks) I'll try to get it working in the correct directory this weekend.

Thanks again for all your help.

I'd say you need to rerun setup. I'm pretty sure its freaking out because the ini is telling it to write the xml file to a directory that doesn't exist or it can't get to. I would just extract from the zip file to the directory you want it in and then run it and it'll fix the setup; or go into the options and tell it where to save the xml file.

Its written in vb6.

Thank you for posting a copy of I-xmltv that works with YApi2Xml. It appears to work well with YApi2Xml and does just about everything it did with the xmltv grabber. I did notice that it will only provide the dd episode information and not the onscreen episode information. After taking a closer look, it seems like Yahoo! is either not providing that information to YApi2Xml or YApi2Xml is not scrapping it from Yahoo! Would it be possible to include the onscreen episode information in the xml file generated by YApi2Xml?

Thank you for your wonderful work and assistance.

Respectfully,

Gary

I'll see if I can find it in the data. Prolly mid-week; once I find it its simple to add.

Upon further investigation, it appears that YApi2Xml does include the onscreen episode information for some shows and I-xmltv does process them correctly.

I'm wondering if Yahoo! is just not providing onscreen episodes for some of the programs. My test example was South Park which does not have any onscreen episode data with YApi2Xml, but was available through Zap2It and xmltv. However, some shows like The Simpson's have the onscreen episode information for some episodes; while, other Simpson's episodes only have the dd episode information. It does not seem to have a rhyme or reason to it.

Is Yahoo! just not providing onscreen episode information for some shows? Or is YApi2Xml not scraping some of the onscreen episodes?

Thanks, again.

YApi2Xml does not "scrape" anything. It downloads a single file with the complete listings. If Yahoo is providing the onscreen episode number for a particular show, YApi2Xml should output it. Only shows that have an episode ID starting with "EP" have episode numbers. Shows starting with "SH" do not.

Oz, the only time it may not get added to the output is if you are parsing the episode number as an integer. If you are doing so, it will not output episode numbers like "#2FE", which some shows can have. If it is being read as a string, then all episode numbers are being output.

whurlston,

Are you referring to DD or OnScreen episode information? The DD episode information seems to always be there. It's the OnScreen episode information that is hit or miss.

Examples:

<title>The Simpsons</title>
<sub-title>Treehouse of Horror VIII</sub-title>
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00018693.0200</episode-num>
<episode-num system="onscreen">5F02</episode-num>

<title>The Simpsons</title>
<sub-title>Treehouse of Horror XVII</sub-title>
<episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00018693.0407</episode-num>
[This example did not have an onscreen episode number.]
<previously-shown start="20061105" />

Respectfully,

Gary
