Good point. Actually I'll forego that part and just use the updateepg.bat

People are going to have to provide the listings themselves using one of the xmltv grabbers that have started to appear, or will most likely also have the option to pay for listings to get them directly (still waiting to hear details on this).
Come on sub, that's pocket change to you! Smile
I think once all the bugs are worked out, most will try the grabbers and see if it does what they want before they pay for a more polished interface. I don't mind paying but if it's simple enough and works, the grabber is fine for me. There's a bunch of users that don't want to go thru the hassle of figuring out or setting up a grabber. Once it becomes easy enough, they'll all get in line.

The worst part of the grabber is that the webpages usually change and break the grabber for a bit.

Remember though, neither of these grabbers that the guys are currently working on use webpages. Thats not to say it wont be broken by something yahoo/titantv do in the future, but its unlikely to change as often as web pages.

Not to mention that we will probably notice when that happens and work to quickly fix it, if for no other reason than to keep our own PVRs operational Wink

I thought the poster was asking the question about screen scraping grabbers, but you're right it was likely about using the Yahoo or Titan grabbers that are being worked on. Those are much less likely to break going forward, and as Whurlston said they will be fixed quickly.

There will be a third grabber option as well. I plan on finishing the MCE grabber once the Yahoo grabber is completed. Between the three of them, pretty much everyone in the US should be covered.

Then we just have to figure out how to help our forsaken Canadian buddies. Smile

poor canadians

mine is all the way to the point where it'll let you enter your zip code, select your provider, it will then download the zip file, extract it, and process the lineup line by line. i just need to figure out what all the delimited codes are and then covert that into xmltv.

Its going well thus far. Mine will also be able to be run in updateepg.bat or whatever that file is called. To configure it it'll just get run by hand. It will not require the Yahoo program to be installed.

We could be if you don't want us to work on it anymore :p

Seriously though, I think I now have access to everything I need and I was able to modify the Y! database to enable multiple lineups. I'm just studying the XMLTv format and hope to have a completed test (late) tonight.
