Updated to 0.60 beta. As usual, download attached to the end of the first post. If you've used this plug-in previously, you will definitely want to update your files to this version, as there have been major changes/additions to the feature list:
- Detailed display of video information;
- Detailed display of music information;
- Radio display;
- Netradio display;
- Ability to customise screens shown in the various display modes;
- Ability to customise length of time to show screens in the various display modes;
- More configuration settings added.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to test this version thoroughly owing to the large amount of features and changes and my limited time. I did test and it worked fine when everything was hardcoded, but I have done barely any testing to see how well the plug-in works following the changes to allow custom configuration of the various modes. However, I will not have much (if any) time over the next few weeks to spend on development, so I release it here as it is still a major improvement over the previous version, 0.46b, and I think people will benefit.

If you see any bugs, please make a post. Also, give me ideas about features you like/dislike/want/not working properly/etc.

This version requires CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll and UltraID3Lib.dll (included).

Tested with the latest version of GBPVR (0.96.08) and it seems to work fine.

It seems the latest GBPVR has changed how it handles netradio/the info it exposes, at least on my machine. I no longer get the Station, Genre, or Song in the main menu, so, as a result, I only get the URL scrolling on the LCD.

This also means that identification of the net radio screen has changed. To have "Net Radio" come up instead of "Music" when playing the net radio, you will need to edit the plugin's config file in the GBPVR directory, and change ID_Netradio from "gbnetradio" to "http://".

Edit: The behaviour above is caused by this setting in GBPVR's config file: <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>. This loses Station, Genre and Song information. If you set this to false, you lose visualisations but your netradio screen will display the correct information. Also, you will not need to change ID_Netradio.

Cheers.

Also, a note on the extended video information. It seems that this requires the My Videos plug-in/the database that it uses. If anyone else has contary info, please post.

I have just got around to trying this out as well and am very impressed.

Thanks fooman !!!

A small request - when GBPVR application is not running the display shows "media centre unavailable" on line1 and line2. Could this be changed so that it displays on line1 only or alternatively displays the default message?

Yes, you can make it display whatever message you want. For the message you are trying to change, you should find it in the config file in the LCDSmartie directory.

To make it only display on line 1, add another screen to LCDSmartie and make it go to it when the output from the $dll(...) matches the string you have chosen instead of "Media Centre Unavailable". Then have another condition to send you back to the normal screen when the output does not equal "Media Centre Unavailable"/equivalent message you chose.

I will add the following on the todo list for the next version: allow user to choose whether to display line X when media centre unavailable.

When I download your plugin and try to open it,

Winzip says it's not a valid archive, try to download agian.

I have tried downloading it several times with the same result.

I would like to take a look at this plug in if I can get the download to work.

Any Ideas?

Thanks........Robert

Hey,

I had the same problem. This file is not actually a zip file, but a GZIP one. I opened the "zip" in WinRAR and it contained a file with no extension but had the same name as the file I had opened.

I extracted this file and changed the (non-existent) extension to .zip and then it was fine to open in winzip. If you dont have winrar - just download GZIP from somewhere (it's got a GNU license)

The problem is, the plugin is 72 kb, but the gzip file download is 108 kb - What type of compression is that!

Thanks

I have a problem of my own with the plugin.
I extracted the 2 DLL's into their respective directories and the config file was created in the LCD smartie folder.

But How do I activate the plugin within GBPVR - it doesnt seem to be listed in the plugins tab. I am using GBPVR 0.95.16 (upgrading to the newer version seemed to make my USBUIRT not work - and some other random behaviour.

Do I need to upgrade to use your new plugin?

Thanks
