PS. The BDA console has some options in fact. Anyone know any background on these options and whether one needs to be careful about how these are set in some cases or not? Options are:

DVB-T
- Auto setting by country (for MCE) - On/Off
- MCEFreqTranslate - None/6MHz/7MHz/8MHz
- Fixed Bandwidth - None/VHF6MHz:UHF8/6/7/8
- Shift Freq Scan - Enabled/Disabled

ATSC
- ATSCFreqShift - defaults to 1750kHz

MISC
- RelockMonitor - Enable/Disable
- RemoteControl - TwinhanDTV/PowerCinema/HomeTheatre/MCE/TwinhanWM-Input/custom/disable

Just got back to doing some tests and......interestingly I have a couple of successful recordings of Channel 9. The only thing I know I did most recently was install the Twinhan drivers from the "latest setup" pack, rather than the specific download. Not sure if this helped.

Hi Sub,

Still having the problem in fact. Just let a channel 9 recording run during the day (1/2 hour show) and it only recorded about 6 minutes after which GB-PVR thought it was still recording and was indicating this hours after until I did a recording service reset. Can I ask a couple of things:

a) Is there a way to call out to a batch file after a channel 9 recording (or any recording) say to restart the recording service? (wouldn't fix the "short channel 9 recording" situation, but at least unstick the recording so other shows can be recorded)

b) Any suggestions re the easiest way to replicate this problem without GB-PVR? i.e. to emulate what GB-PVR is doing?

Thanks

Hi Sub,

Just some more info to characterise the problem I see.

* I did try that latest version of the MUX - it didn't help
Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\Gregs\bin\mux\2\THMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.2022

* Currently (not sure if the issue is the same or has morphed slightly) the recording seems to be completing for the whole period without locking out GB-PVR, however when playing back the recording it can actually freeze during playback. Easy to trigger this when doing hitting the FORWARD button. The recording file *.mpg is the right size. Also when I play this file back in Windows Media Player it sees the same problem with the recording.

If I play back a previous recording (made with my old PC) it plays back fine in GB-PVR and windows media player. It would seem this suggests the recording aspect has a problem. I have tried multiple versions of BDA drivers and MUXs however to no avail.

Any other ideas? Re-install GB-PVR? Are there video codecs that are relied upon here such that I should be downloading a latest codec pack?

(so strange that I'm having this problem on a much faster PC, using the same video card as before)

Did you try the DVR-MS mux?

If its not the mux, its probably something about the card or its drivers that doesnt like your new machine. Its got to be either the mux or the data coming out of the cards BDA drivers.

I assume it also has playback problems on another machine?

No, not really.

I dont think it would make any difference, but if you run out of ideas, you might as well give it a go.

Good point - I'll try this. I might even pull the card out and pop it in another slot to try.

If I get totally stuck (which I think I'm close to) perhaps buying a different tuner card would be the next step. Do you have a recommendation sub? (value for money preferred but one that's been known to work well with dual-core and GB-PVR)

Mixed-Up - did you have any success with this?

Ive had this problem for a while and didnt find this thread last time i tried to fix this - im glad i have!

Im having the exact same problem, only with Nova-T DVB-T cards (x3) and it seems to be specific channels that cause the problem.

I'm going to rig up a new better aerial and see if that helps, try different drivers and use a signal strength utility to see if the results tally with the channels that give me problems.

Unfortunately I didn't have any success. In fact my PVR (GBPVR) has been off-the-air since this thread Sad

I basically kind of gave up and was hoping for the next release of GBPVR from Sub to potentially fix the problem, with no real logic behind this except I think Sub was going to incorporate a couple of items directly into the next release (I'd have to re-read this thread to remember now).

I think there is a new release of GB-PVR since then so I'll have to try.

I'm very keen to solve the problem too, so let me know how you go. If I knew for sure a different TV card would fix the problem I'd consider buying one, but I'm not in a position to buy a new PC (after just buying this one) to help get my PVR working - not quite that rich Smile

Hi again Sub (others)

Just having another crack at getting things working again. Any suggestions/recommendations regarding whether there's a good/recent version of mux I should try to address the jerkyness I see in my recordings? Playback of previous recording I had before this latest computer play fine.

At the moment I have "Cyberlink" selected for the mux. The output of the mux checker is below:

Code:
GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: InterVideo Multiplexer
FILE: C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\bin\ivimux.ax
VERSION: 3.0.88.0

Found: PP MPEG Muxer (aka, CyberLink MPEG Muxer)
FILE: C:\Program Files\CyberLink DVD Solution\PowerProducer\ppMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.1228

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\Gregs\bin\mux\2\THMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.2022
VisionPlus Twinhan Tuner Card
2005 MCE Remote
Girder (for remote key remapping)
Shared PC/GB-PVR functions (via secondary display & AV sender)
