I also use the pure video codec. On the server I have XP Pro and use the Nvidia PureVideo with no problem. I am using the 5.1 via the spdif output on my sound card. On the client I have MCE and PureVideo outputing 2.0 via the audio jack and I get no sound when the dvd has an AC3 audio. I have to use the intervideo codec. The weird thing is if I open the "lastdvdgraph" after trying gbpvr with purevideo(producing no audio) graphedit works fine.

Dark Half, from what I can remember, I had the same problem when I was using Windows MCE. While playing an mpeg file in media centre, go to the 'more programs' option on the main screen, select 'nvidia settings', go to 'audio video playback settings', 'audio advanced settings', 'speaker setup'.
In the 'speaker setup' change this to 'no downmix - spdif passthru'.
Also, there is a patch for pure video on nvidia's site for windows mce, I think it's to fix the save speaker setting option, I think mce forgets what has been saved or it resets it or something like that.

I am using gbpvr not MCE(that is just the OS). I have never even used MCE because I bought the PC to use as a client to GBPVR. It might be that purevideo acts different on MCE so when I get a chance I will play with it some more.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I use GBPVR on an MCE os machine. Did you try the instructions in my earlier post (#28 page 3)? I currently use 2.0 output (I haven't plugged my 5.1 speakers back in yet) with the pure video audio and video codecs selected. When I have my 5.1 speakers in I still use the same method i.e. setting pure video to connect to a receiver via an spdif cable, even though there is no cable or receiver just the sound card (acting as a receiver) and analogue output.
