Well i moved the tv tuner over one slot and that didn't do anything, I tried turning off my GPU fan and the case fan near it and that didn't do anything. I took the amplifier out of the chain and that didn't do anything. I agree that electrical interference is a good bet but i'm not sure how to pinpoint the culprit. No matter what i'm going to order that shielded cable and see if that helps.

I know what you're saying. I can see it on like 75% of the stations.

do you have any high tension lines or power lines in the line of site of where the arial points
make sure you arial cable doesnt run parallel(side by side)with any power cables closer than 300mm(12inches)
in other words dont have tidy cabling

the only hole in my theory is you said you moved house and it hasnt changed

Ya that's the problem. Consistently the cable has run close to power wires so that might be what ties this all together. I'm definitely going to try running the wire away from the power wires and I'll get a well shielded cable as well.

you can also get ferrite round cable suppresssion sleeves
to stop the ac signal getting to your card

is there anything else that is the same from the last place ?
(as in you removed from the last place and its still the same )
amplifier

Well I rerouted the wire and it seems to have made an improvement. It's not completely away from the cables but it's much farther away than it was. I think interference is the mostly likely culprit. Now I have to figure out why when there's motion it looks terrible.

Hah you're telling me. I've been trying to make my setup look good for 2 years and it still needs a load of work.

im saying i have had dvd players that sucked thats why i started using a computer in the first place and im still trying for the perfect picture with no tearing
i have come to the conclusion there is alot of bad conversion from film to interlaced mpeg production which is what all dvds are produced
and then it is broadcast although someone will tell me im wrong
basically theres to many different ways of interlacing deinterlacing back and fourth to ever get decent playback
i even go to the movies and hate the way film even does it so im pretty much stuffed im never going to be happy
