It defaults to narrative and for me, the plain audio is much quieter than anything else coming out of the PCH
Unfortunately I dont have any say over the audio stream the PCH picks. It should really be defaulting to the first stream though, and not the narrative.

It wasn't a change or fix request, merely an observation Smile

I know - but its probably the sort of thing Syabas could fix easily though. It might be worth a post on their forums.

DOH!!!
I can't believe I never thought to press the audio button!
It is annoying that it defaults to the wrong one and, as mentioned above, that it is much quieter but there you go.
Just need to get ITV HD working now - I can view it when mapping channels but when selecting to view live TV PCH says 'Could not play!' after the buffering screen.
Any ideas? Will check the logs and post if I see anything.
Cheers

ITV HD is transmitted with an invalid stream type, causing the PCH to be unable to play it. Unfortunately there is much I can do about this. Lets hope ITV fix this at some stage in the near future.

I think it is done on purpose so that it is only available on "freesat" boxes and not on existing Sky boxes - AFAIK done for licensing purposes, as their programming is designed for UK reception and not all of Europe. Maybe they can at some point, find space on one of the narrow beam, UK only transponders to sort it out. Their advertisers won't liek an artificially restricted market.

I had that thought too but the Hauppauge card is capable of playing it (you can preview it when mapping channels in config), just not the PCH.

I've just read this, as I'm having issues with narrative audio on BBC HD playback... If GB-PVR records all audio streams, how does it know which one to play back when I watch a recording?

It plays the first audio stream. Narrative streams are usually the last stream.

There was a bug where it was playing all streams, but a patch was posted somewhere for that.
