And again.
Stopped recording Tuesday night (21st) on "The Mentalist", form 8 to 9 pm. It stopped at 8:53. Nothing obvious to me in the logs. I included all logs since then. I did not discover it until Thursday 10/23, and missed a bunch of shows. The logs running at the time were the recordingservice-2 logs, dated 10/21/08. Many shows were missed between. The TS file is about 7GB, which is about right for nearly an hour. Data stops flowing to the TS file, date stops updating, but recordingservice is hung. Have to stop and then restart recording service to free it up.
There were no WIndows errors this time. Program seemed responsive.
I do notice that every instance I can think of has been on Channel 13, CBS, HD mode. But, most of the shows we record are CBS.
Last night (23rd), I was watching late shows on live TV, and had it on CBS live TV. At about 11:10, the show stopped, and I got the black box indicating no signal. It hung at this point, I could not get anything to respond to the remote. It did respond to Alt-F4, and exited. See logs pvrx2-1, ending at 11:10. Recording status showed live TV, channel 13, and did not release. I manually stopped, then stop/restart recording, and it freed up. I immediately went back in and could tune to channel 13. I have seen this a number of times. Probably on channel 13. I cannot change channels if this happens, nor get any response from remote. I sometimes can get out with alt-F4, sometimes have to hard boot the machine.
Therfore, it appears some momentary issue with the cable feed causes GBPVR to lock up, whether recording or live TV, and it does not recover. Other times when this has happened and I don't have time to mess (watching something I want to see, like a game), I switch to the TV's tuner and the live TV on 13 is fine. This confirms that it is s very short-term glitch that is permanently locking up GBPVR.
I do not know if you can add more logging to catch this. Or somehow sense the situation (ie, recording is WAY beyond scheduled end time) and kill the program or bounce the recording service.
I am running AverMedia 780m card with QAM support. Fast PC (3.2GHz), plenty of memory, drive has lots of room, nothing else running at the time.
I am including all the logs since issue this time, in case there are clues elsewhere.
Thanks
Chuck
