The demux is the "MPEG-2 Demultiplexer" directshow filter installed with Windows

sub, did you get a chance to look at my upload? (My thread seems to have been thoroughly hijacked!).

Just looked at my sent items and can't see it! Don't know what happened there. I'll check and re-send.

Hi, sorry this has wandered a little off-topic, but still related to HVR2200... anything to get better stability for anything to do with this is a good thing Smile

Hi Sub, I downloaded the ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe (seems to work fine with the HVR2200) and for all the frequencies our channels are on it logs:
# Locked = Y Present = Y Strength = -20 Quality = 100%
etc... I've tried this several times over the last 2 days and it seems very consistent (although waiting for some rain). So reception (at this point) doesn't appear to be the reason for continuity errors.
BTW, can you tell me why the strength is listed as "-20"? Is that some SNR, decibels or something like that?

I dont know, all the manufaturers seem report they signal quality different ways (0-100, -64000 to 0,-4000 to 100,-3200 to 100 etc), and some have have hard coded numbers for some all all of the values. I dont pay much attention to them, other than the locked status.

I cant think of anything else that would account for the behaviour you're seeing, the above test doesnt make me think you have a good signal, so I'm still thinking signal is your problem.

So that's like a PLL on the signal? Hmmm, quality=100% sounds good... except the signal may indeed be weak. I guess Hauppauge should be able to tell me... what is their support like?

Well it seems ok at the moment. I'll do a recording shortly (while the signal is like this) then run thru TS-Doctor to see what that reports.

What do you use to report continuity errors - a utility or just check values within your debugger?
