EDIT: Now I am trying to access the same folder "Movies" from my client laptop. Same problem. Does the protect.txt file need something in it?

EDIT: Could something be residual messing it up since both were upgrades and not new installs?

No.

I just tested this & if I don't enter another sub directory below the protected one it won't let me back out, but if I go down one more layer & then enter on [..] twice it lets me out. Also after this when I try to go back into the protected directory it asks for the pin again.

I tried your way Jaggy by adding another subfolder, no change.

Yes, same passwords on server and client in config. My first time trying this I was only trying from the server.

I'm not sure what that error is, but I dont think its related to your pin code problem.

I'm a bit busy the next couple of days with work stuff, but if you bump the post in the weekend, I'll try again to work out why its not working correctly for you.

same problem here, once entered a pin code protected folder, i'm able to click on the
".." item, but then it entered again the same protected folder without the ".." item.

here is my folder content:
