You mean http://www.volny.cz/hoborg/npvr.zip? That looks like it still shows you using ffdshow.

Just try playing a regular MPEG2 file, with a decoder that does full DXVA. Like MainConcept or other decoder with option to enable/disable hardware acceleration. If the logic works, I can apply it to other media types. You'll see "Using DXVA" in the logs if it is going to apply the logic.

Oh, it seems you have old file in cache.
Here is LOG - MPEG-2 TS file using PDVD10 DxVA decoder.

It helps. But picture is not centered and pressing F7 will restore the problem (not on "AUTO").

Can you post a screenshot so I can see where it ended up?

The reason F7 helps, is because you're switching to the 'full' aspect ratio, which is effectively putting those Size X/Y sliders in graphedit back to 100% percent. As I said, I can do a workaround of just leaving the aspect ratio in 'Full' mode if DXVA is detected. This would be find for lots of users - ie, those with 16:9 screens that watch mainly 16:9 content, or those with 4:3 screens that watch mainly 4:3 content. The content would be stretched in other combinations.

It looked ok for me with most of my channels (using the PDVD7 decoder), apart from those showing 4:3 content which were still wrong. Changing to full fixed them though. Is there any way you could make it remember the last used ratio? So if you set it to full, the next time you return to Live TV (or any video content) it starts using full straight away?

Regarding Windows 7, I agree that it's the way to go, but the lack of negative aspect ratios with EVR, and no DXVA of MPEG4 with VMR9 has meant I've stayed away from it while still using GBPVR. That's obviously all changed now, so I'm in the process of moving over. Some new PC innards should arrive before the New Year, which should give my setup the oomph it needs to decode HD in software, meaning I can continue to use GBPVR with Windows 7 until fully migrated over to NPVR.

I should add that *I'm* happy enough to use NPVR, but my wife will take a bit more convincing (she hates change) and having them work side by side will makes things so much easier. Unfortunately, that just hasn't been possible with my setup and XP. I wouldn't be writing plugins for NPVR if I didn't think it was a fantastic piece of software Big Grin

Keep up the good work!

Taking it back - it is correctly centered (there is black border in video).
So it is working on MPEG-2 files.

Yes. I could even just force it to use 'full' when DXVA is detected, so that you can continue to get the correct aspect ratio with for .avi/.mkv files etc, and only force full when it detects it needs to.

Great. Do you have a small sample AVC file?

Here's what happened to my 4:3 content (ignore the fact it looks broken up, that was just because I captured it over VNC).

Changing to full fixed it, but stretched it. But then I'm one of those freaks who don't mind watching 4:3 content that way.

FFDshow is able to change AR acording to source video automatically - this is great for digital LiveTV, it is switching 4:3 <-> 16:9 automatically. PDVD decoder doesnot support it.

Thats odd. Is there any chance you've got a small sample clip I could download?
