well I signed up to Digiguide for 2 years.!!

Steeb, do you know if there an accurate guide exists on to setup digiguide with XMLTVGUI so I can then import the EPG into npvr.

The grabber guide here http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/wiki/index.php/UK_Digi has a broken link to DG2XML skin.
From looking on the XMLTVGUI forum, I figured out that I apparently need DGXMLTV but I am not actually sure why I need this, what it does and why I then need to run DGXMLTV.exe in a cmd file.

feeling confused...

Hiya gEd,

don't be confused Big Grin We will get you sorted pronto!

1st time around it is a little confusing, once you've done it, hey presto, that was easy.

1st off start here, luckily enough this was picked up on another thread a few days ago, start with this post and work your way down

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post400571

because I haven't had to set it up for ages since I've been running it over 3 years with relatively no issues, until last XMLTVGUI release when something went a bit wrong but got sorted v speedily by AB (you'll see my posts on his forum) I very cheekily asked garyeuph to furnish details on how it went for him, which he very obligingly provided a few posts down from the 1st one Big Grin (I am thinking of writing this up properly for the wiki so if you can make notes too......)

It is v simple, you actually only need to extract 1 or 2 files from the install, no cmd's needed, nada. You pop relevant files into web scheme of digiguide folders enable scheme in digiguide and import into XMLTVGUI as .xml. Anything missing you need to know just holler again Wink

....and just a thought, strictly speaking using DG2XML to get xml listings is not officially sanctioned by DGuide (though AFAIK they are aware it goes on in a very limited way and for personal use, and they are getting a subscription after all) hence the difficulty in getting hold of DG2XML. So all I'm saying is in the same way you wouldn't go to Microsoft support to ask about MC2XML probably best not to chat about it on the DGuide forums Big Grin

ok understood.

well when I tried it last night, xmltvgui couldn;t connect to the browser so I have something fundamental wrong here. (firewall was disabled)

just toi check, can you post the URL I should be using in xmltvgui please as I seem to have lost the original. Mine doesn't appears to pass the password=xxx in the connection string.

will try later tonight

Yup me too. Also I don't use a password although XMLTVGUI makes it appear as though I do.

Hmm, so I signed up for their 2 year special and have switched over from the RT (thanks to the helpful posts on how to here) and it kinda works. It is far less happy than it was under the RT though. I get some 32Mb out of the XMLTV grabber which sometimes loads fine in nPVR but sometimes doesn't - it'll load some of it but not all channels and when I look the file is now 8Mb in size. No idea what's going on there, never seen loading a file produced by the RT grabber do this... Anyway when it does load, ITV2,3 & 4 are garbled messes with several overlapping programs. RTE1,2,TV3,TG4 were the same -but all other channels seem fine. I've switched back to DVB broadcast guide for the Irish Terrestrial stations since there's only one mux to scan but no idea what's up with ITV2,3&4. Anyone here got them working ok? Is it something I've done? Also the bulk map in npvr isn't working which is extremely annoying as I've had to map every channel several times, and still it's not loading them all consistently.

No something doesn't sound right here. You should have every channel you have configured. Have you got the latest patch .exe from AB on this thread?

http://www.birtles.org.uk/phpbb3/viewtop...?f=5&t=393

also bulk map worked for me fine the other day? hmmmm...

(and don't forget some of the ITV channels are changing numbers overnight, tonight, if you are using channel numbering as per Sky)

[prompted my email update]yep, sorry I meant to thank you guys as well. I got it working in the end, my problem was the URL I was using was messed up.
However I am staying with the RT download just for now whilst I sort out my new HD tuner and until Sub releases the update which avoids recording duplicate shows. That was the one and only reason for me to switch from the RT source (I quite like their rambling show descriptions).
