I went into the npvr.db3 database to add the crossbar_filter column, which I did successfully. However I realized that the Colossus card isn't even listed in the HDPVR_RECORDER table. That table is completely empty, with no rows whatsoever.
Now that you've corrected the database, run "nextpvr.exe -emptydb" then visit the Settings -> Devices and it should create the entries it needs.

Ok, I did so and the entries were created. However now I'm having problems with actual watching/recording of TV. If I try to watch Live TV, I see a picture but no sound for a few seconds (3-15 seconds) and then NPVR crashes. If I try to record a show, I get a functional recorded picture/video but no sound.

You could try other decoders. If that doesn't help, and you can reproduce the crash by playing a recording, then when I'm back in New Zealand I'll get you to supply a sample recording and I'll check out the file here.

I've found that the Colossus is rather picky about the AAC audio decoder in NPVR - I couldn't get the Hauppauge decoder to work, but the Arcsoft AudioHD decoder works fine. You do have to register them, and the Arcsoft video decoder won't work until you make an ASVid.log file.

I'm running XP, however, so YMMV.

Ok, after systematically trying every single possible combination of decoders and renderers, I eventually got recording working without stuttering and with audio and video synced. I haven't been able to get LiveTV working though (it just crashes NPVR after 1-12 seconds).

Also updated the Colossus drivers to the most recent version on the web (not on the CD).

Windows 7, 32bit

The settings I used were:
video renderer: EVR
audio renderer: Default DirectSound Device

MPEG video decoder: Arcsoft
H264 video decoder: Arcsoft
MPEG-1 audio decoder: ffdshow
AC3 audio decoder: ffdshow
E-AC3 audio decoder: ffdshow
AAC audio decoder: Arcsoft ** this was the one and only decoder that worked without crashing NPVR
HE-AAC audio decoder: ffdshow

Unchecked "Only use mapped audio decoders during ts playback"

Now I just hope that these decoder/renderer settings will work once I start setting up my ATSC PCTV HD 330e USB stick since I'm stuck with these settings for now!!!

That ArcSoft decoder is the Hauppauge decoder. That is the decoder they distribute for AAC.

True, maybe it was the HaupAC3Decoder I was thinking of. It was the Hauppauge-branded decoders that didn't play well with others. I don't have wintv7 installed now, so I can't check it. At any rate, I'm pointing at the ArcSoft decoders in the ArcSoft install (which is part of the Hauppauge distro).

In case this helps anyone in the future - I replaced my HD PVR with a Colossus as well - rather than empty my database and lose all associated with it - i was able to simply change the crossbar for the HDPVR in the databse to the correct one for the Colossus and all continues to work.

Does LiveTV work for you? If so, can you share the settings you are using? What version of Windows are you running? LiveTV crashes NPVR for me.

I can't seem to find a filter combination that works for live TV either. Always crashes. I can record shows fine, and I can open and play them in WinTV 7 while recording. I assume the filters showing in NPVR are all registered? I have no idea how to make an ASVid.log file. Don't have zip software on the computer or I'd attach my logs. I'm running Windows 7 64.
