Copied over the new Unmanaged.dll. Restarted NPVR. Didn't work. Rebooted and restarted NPVR -- success! XBMC now reports 5.1 channel AC3! (And I learned that simply restarting the frontend portion of NPVR maybe isn't enough to propagate changes...)

I find the video bitrate still seems low for the 1080i channel I'm recording. It could be that the source is also kinda crap -- I'd never normally watch that show; I chose it specifically because I wouldn't get sucked into watching the whole thing! The log says the video bitrate is set to 9000 kps variable, with 13500 kbps max (which should be adequate, I think). Regardless, is it possible for the end user to change that anywhere?

Thanks, sub, for getting on this so quickly, and solving it!

For completeness, I should attach the logs...

Great on the audio.

For the bitrate, I can see it's asking the Colossus for the resolution, but for some reason its not returning it, which causes NextPVR to assume it's SD:
Quote:2012-10-27 10:17:20.382 [DEBUG][8] Device reports resolution: 0x0 (fps:0) (aspect:0) (progressive:0) (videoIdCode:0)
The easiest fix is to search for <ModeSD> in the config.xml, and increase the default bitrate used for SD.

Here's my log after the patches too in case it's of interest.

Bumped the SD bitrate to the 1080i / 720p defaults, and yeah, that seems much better! Thanks again.

sub Wrote:That doesn't matter though. It only matters what the setting was at the time you created the channels. Try this patch. It'll show you what the channels are set to.

There's a bug with this version NShared.dll. I have 4 x Colossus cards using an external .exe to tune the channel. With this version of the .dll file the .exe to tune doesn't get executed for the second and third tuners. I also noticed this with the previous version that Sub put out. The last version I've found that worked for all four was the one dated 10/24/12.

I am in the process of moving back to NPVR and I've run into a snag. When I set up one of my Colossus cards to use HDMI and try to watch something I get no video. The decoders are set to LAV for everything. I don't think NRecord is using HDMI as the log diles say it is using video input 0 and Audio Line In. Attached is the log file. Any ideas how to get this to use HDMI as the input?

I purchased a Colossus as well, but found that when connected to my new Shaw DCX3200 Set-top box via HDMI that the Shaw box would sense the fact that the Colossus was connected to it and would display a message about security being broken and then shutoff the video. After Googling I discovered that HDMI uses HDCP which can causes this to happen with devices that can break the DRM rules.

I am surprised to see that this is not a problem for you with the DirectTV tuner. Any comments as to why it works for you?

Pretty simple actually. DirecTV isn't turning on HDCP for most of their channels and I don't subscribe to the ones that do use it (movie channels).
