Thanks all.

linux idiot back :o

Have tried the

cat /proc/cpuinfo

and my serial does match to the one I registered with RaspPi

I still would like to try openelec as my first choice before trying Raspbmc

But I am still an idiot.....

AFAIK my config.txt is edited, with the appropriate entry for mpg2

and by the way all - Happy New Year Big Grin

Happy New Year (again!)

def this appears to be a problem with the mpg2 not enabling. Didn't realize before but when I got audio it was because the channel I was trying on had mp3 available and that played audio fine. As soon as switch to a channel with only mpg2 no sound either.

Do realize these are early days with this stuff and also that I am a linux idiot....

May just try that Rasbmc to see how different it looks/works!

cheers

Nope it's something else, channels don't have mp3 audio, and mpeg2 audio is not restricted. Try raspbmc though it can't hurt.

Happy New Year.

My Config.txt looks like this:

Code:
arm_freq=800
force_turbo=1
gpu_mem=128
disable_overscan=1
decode_MPG2=0xNNNNNNNN
decode_WVC1=0xNNNNNNNN

Replace the N's with your license numbers. 0-9, a-f's lower case. Case is important to note.

Steeb, if you are using a keyboard, type the letter O will give you the audio and video properties, so you won't have to guess.

Thank you both,

Martin with the Openelec build xbmc definitely reported back that the audio was MP3 via the osd while playing BBC1. No picture just audio. On changing a channel that then displayed MPEG 2 I lost audio...

Never figured out how to get the mpeg2 license enabled with Openelec so then moved to a Raspbmc build to see the difference.

For a Linux idiot this was easier... Big Grin

The mpeg2 enabling was as smooth as editing the config.txt and worked straight away.

However the Raspbmc build keeps dropping out with a warning flag saying:

NextPVR Client
Tuner No Longer available

Interesting! For a windows user I would say that Raspbmc is far easier to configure but from the results I was getting the Openelec build more stable!

I must investigate this drop out issue with Raspbmc. After returning to the main xbmc channel list the NextPVR server is found again and LiveTV works fine again. It is only on trying to change channels that the connection gets lost!

cheers all

Hiya BrainStormer,

wired always with me. Hate wireless!

Set currently as dhcp to pick up IP. Am wondering if I set Raspbmc to static IP it may help???!!

hmmmm :eek:

cheers

In my network setup, all devices are set to dhcp, but I setup static dhcp on the router. Much easier to se at a glance what my network looks like.

You should restart the server whenever you see tuner not available messages. Also reboot your tuners if they are external, like the SiliconDust's or Hauppauge DCR-2650

Hiya BrainStormer,

thanks for all info.

Have opted to rebuild Raspbmc with a static IP just to see if that makes a difference.

Have also checked NextPVR server to make sure I have all latest patches installed, which I appear to have. Also rebooted that just in case...

Will be interesting to see if I still get the same issue!

I have no external tuners, all internal.

cheers muchly
