Cant seem to get NRecord to start even though I am part of the Administrators in the permissions.
Keep getting error "1069 The service did not start due to logon failure "

I have started to ask people at work to see if they can help me figure this. This is just your standard windows 7 box, nothing fancy.
I have not given up yet. Even though I have spent hours and hours on this one thing. If I do figure this out I will post the fix.

your account also needs the Logon as a Service privilege.

another way around is that you can map a drive while logged in as [Local System]; this would let you troubleshoot the permissions on your NAS so that it will let NRecord write to it while logged in with the system account. google "command prompt as local system" or "map drives as local system"

Thanks to everyone that has tried to help me. This seems to just not work connecting to a Samba share.
I tried everything I could think of but it just wont record to my Raspberry Pi Samba share which has a user name and password.
I have got NextPVR to work with a user account, it turns out that my user which has NO password would not work but if I created a password protected user
it did work. That user worked and even added the Logon as a Service privilege when I applied it to the service. Sad thing is that did not help.
I added the drive to my windows credentials, that did not help. So in short I give up. I will either attach a hard drive to this machine or try MythTV.
Thanks again.

My utility Sharehelper (search the forum) should allow the recording service to connect to a password protected share. Hopefully you can get the performance you require out the RPI as a NAS, I wouldn't bother with all the bottlenecks.

OK I throw up my hands. Installed Sharehelper and followed the thread. Figured where to put the XML file and I hit record.
A folder was created, files were created and 0KB was recorded.
Not a byte was written to the file. So I tried going from localservice credentials to a user account. I used the IP in the XML user name password.
I did not use a drive letter. I currently have the drive mapped to the PC and can access it no problems. I often play files from there.
I even play back the files I recorded locally using NextPVR then copied them up to the drive.
I checked the logs and get NO kind of error message that would indicate there is an issue.
Sharehelper says its mounted the drive. I will send logs and config if anyone wants to look.
Ahh bummer.

You should post your logs... If you are creating a folder and a zero length file it sounds like you've got write access...

his share is a samba share on linux. a zero-length file is typical of a permissions issue.

@ChicagoBob - try setting the permissions on the mount point and recording directory to rw for all. i.e. "chmod 666 /mnt/share" and "chmod 666 /mnt/share/recording" (obviously substituting your paths). also check your samba config for the share, allow anonymous users. maybe also try setting samba to "share" security instead of "user" security if it's not set that way already (I can't claim to be a samba expert though)

Thats what I thought. I looked at the logs. Did not even see a write error.
I will look into what johnsonx42 recommends first before posting logs.
