Do the 'update epg', then post the npvr.log and we'll take a look.

Will do. I think I figured it out though. I was looking through the logs and it looks like there is an internal mapping ID on each channel. I was using mc2xml with microsoft legacy until it went down and I just switched over to zap2xml. I haven't remapped the channels since the switch and I think it can't match them up with the new XML. Does that make sense?

Yep, absolutely. The ids are almost certainly different between these files, which come from different sources. You'll need to tell NextPVR what the new channel mappings are. If you don't, then it'll been looking in the file for listings with your previously specified ID, and not finding any.

GeoLaw Wrote:Once the epg.xml guide is created, what process keeps it updated? Is it the same a mc2xml? There is an automatic update setup at the top of the Settings\Misc2 tab in NextPVR. But does that update work when using zap2xml.exe the same as when using mc2xml or must it be automatically updated in another way?

If you have an UpdateEPG.bat in the scripts dir it will run it at the time set for automatic update at the top of the Settings\Misc2 tab, so as long as that batch file is setup correctly it will do the update for you.

What type of TV channels are you using? Analog tuner, digital tuner, HDPVR or CableCard? The process varies slight for each.

If you're using a digital tuner, the general approach is to go to the Settings->Channel screen, and double click a channel. It'll now be showing you the channel details, including it's EPG source. You can switch that EPG Source to Schedules Direct, select the lineup and mapping, then hit ok. After this first channel, you can either do the rest of the channels the same way, or you can use the Bulk Map to change a lot of channels in one go.

you create a batch file in 'scripts' directory in npvr data dir called UpdateEPG.bat and put the line in there to download the xml..
mine's:
zap2xml.exe -o epg.xml -u username -p password -d 15 -S 1 -D -A "new live" -E "amp apos quot lt gt" -F
the username/pass is your logon on zap2it website..

No matter what I try this won't create an xml file. I've tried a full path name for the -o option. Tried less days in the -d option. But when I run the bat file it was run fine for an hour or more, but never creates a xml file.

add this to the command line

Code:
1> UpdateEPG.log 2>&1

this will redirect output and error to UpdateEPG.log , so you can review to see what's happening
