I seem to remember Sub saying that a manual refresh of EPG for SD will only get 7 days wile the automatic update will request 14 days (unless overridden in config.xml).

This is also my main reason that I try to get 21 days of guide data whenever available. Although, now that I have a manual recording setup to record all series premieres (S1E1), it's not quite as important. But then it switches to I need more data so that when I find one of those series premieres that I want to always record, I need another episode in the guide for the Find All to find so that I can setup a series recording.

Thanks everyone for answering questions on the longer guide. My main reason for asking was I really like the Upcoming Show feature that I put into Searchlite, because for me it is nice having months of planning with details and trailers, (new Fall shows are starting to appear) and I don't have to have to relay on word of mouth and searching It doesn't sound like many are browsing which I couldn't imagine doing every day trying to keep current.

Humm... I do sort of seem to recall you mentioning something about this a while back, but am sorry to admit that I've never actually seen it. I just went to my SearchLite menu option and didn't see it either. So I'm wondering if I have the latest SearchLite installed. I guess I'll have a search/project for the afternoon. :-)

I've always used the NEWA Autosearch/Autorecord feature with the CLI to schedule all my series type recordings. I have the CLI scheduled to run every day about 90 minutes after the EPG update. Works great for me.

To get my new series first episode I setup a manual recording with advanced rules of

Code:
season==1 and episode==1 and first_run="Y"

to get new series, 1st recordings.

I got it off of these forums here: johnsonx42 advanced rules comment

After I review a new series, if I like it and want it, then I create recurring recording.

If you haven't broken it at least once, you're not doing it right. :eek:

The Season 1 Episode 1 rule breaks down sometimes so you still need to pay attention. For example consider "Star Trek: Discovery" on Sept. 24th episode 2 will directly follow episode 1. Sometimes Schedules Direct helps by combining episodes but for this one two networks are involved in Canada and the US.

Yes, I've had a few occurrences where the premiere is immediately followed by the 2nd episode. (This has mostly been with half-hour comedies.) I also sometimes don't notice/watch the premiere episode before the next one airs even if it is a week later. I've spent a little time thinking about ways to "deal" with these situations, but haven't come up with any brilliant ideas yet.
