Have you tried rebooting the HDHomeRun? ie, removing the power temporarily

Not yet, that was my next step depending on whether or not there were other ideas useful for debugging.

I've been an idiot, I've just realised I accidently managed to pull the aerial cable out of the HDHomerun earlier today. That'll teach me to put it somewhere inaccessible.

It did seem to be a no signal issue. At least you learned some test methods.

It's always good to learn something new. I also found out how to reboot the HDHomerun using

"c:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe" ... set /sys/restart self (from http://dougshartzer.blogspot.com/2013/05...tuner.html)

which is useful if the issue I have can be worked around by rebooting the HDHomerun rather than the NextPVR server.

I had another "root element is missing" error this morning on a recording, and when I tried it live TV didn't work either.

I thought that rebooting the HDHomerun was helping so I'd scheduled a task for it to be rebooted, which it had done yesterday, so it doesn't look like that helps after all.
