Yes I’m aware that 11426 H is Freesat EPG and 11778 V is OpenTV Sky UK EPG. The point I’m making is that OpenTV includes channel EPG that is available on Freesat plus any other FTA channel EPG on Astra 28.2. You’ve now confirmed that NPVR doesn’t support OpenTV Sky UK EPG so maybe Sub may want to look and see if he can incorporate that feature in Linux.

Maybe just wait and see what he has to say about that. Thanks

Sorry my mistake in not understanding that all along you wanted Open TV from 11778 since you were calling it Freesat. I still think openTVtoXML could be viable option. If you can't script it with dvbv5-scan maybe sub could give a tuning option for DeviceHostLinux.

I imagine Sub could manage to incorporate this as he is based in NZ and OpenTV Sky epg is broadcast there for him to test. If he wants to check out TVHeadend’s implementation of this feature it’s there to be seen on their forum. Scripts etc are fine but users don’t necessarily want to go down that road.

Yes he noted that he fully aware of the NZ implementation when 6.1.2 was being discussed when I noted it was a lot of work. NextPVR is closed source so can't use open source code.

Windows users have been using EPG Collector for years to get this data, and there really hasn't been push back on scripting. I expect those Rytek scripts I linked to get the EPG would be easier than using that utility for many and saves the tuner.

Indeed but the kick here is I’m not a Windows user so not really relevant. I’m purely pointing out what users of DVBS/T would require in order to migrate to NPVR.

As you no doubt are aware EPG is king in any PVR setup and the more seamless the process is to obtain it the more likely a user is to migrate to NPVR.

I’ve seen sales of certain free to air set top boxes double in Europe with the introduction of 7 day EPG instead of the Now/Next offering they are usually shipped with.

I do understand that Sub like the rest of us is probably busy with the day job and as you mentioned a closed source project doesn’t lend itself to collaboration trying to resolve issues like this.

I must say I like NPVR but a one man development operation when it comes to an OS like Linux doesn’t cut it these days. Maybe that works for Windows but not being a Windows user I can’t really comment any further on that subject.

All I tried to do was install it, evaluate it for my best case usage and point out where I felt it came up short.

After a bit more research I think the fullmux for the Freesate EPG should be on 11428  not 11426.

It autotunes each mux. You’ll also see it here

Sorry I don't understand DVB terminology. I know when I test scan DVB OTA it suggests other frequencies to use. I don't know if SAT>IP is using the same logic

Plus NextPVR Freesat logic is different, I think NextPVR just scans 11428 and skips the individual scans.

Freesat 7 day EPG data is carried on 11426 H as can be seen from the link I attached above. What should happen is when the mux scan is completed it should be able to automatically populate all channels on the Freesat package if you’ve selected Freesat as your source for EPG. You really need to be able to tune to the satellite mux to see what i am saying.

Are you familiar with a DVBS Sat/IP tuner. TVHeadend has no issues picking up Freesat EPG using my DVBS Sat/IP tuner. You can read up on the specs here https://telestar.de/en/produkt/digibit-twin/

There is no argument that TVHeadend can do this, but that doesn't help. Feel free to use it, it's a great program for Linux users, especially Kodi users.

I don't trust one link since I can show you many with 11428. I do trust sub though https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid516392

I think the current logic is to skip the now/next muxes for Freesat if Freesat is enabled as that channel's source. That logic sounds right and faster too.
