It's like 90% done. I'd been away most the last week though, so it has been a quiet last week on that front.

Hoping to get a build out that others can try in the next few days (by end of the weekend)

There is an initial test build at http://nextpvr.com/beta/linux/NPVR.zip (and http://nextpvr.com/beta/win64/NPVR.zip)

Previously there was a three separate implementations of EPG stuff (long story...historic reasons), for Windows BDA tuners (DeviceHostWindows), Linux (DeviceHostLinux) and Network Tuners (NShared.dll). This is the first build where all the these combinations are shifted to a single common implementation in NShared.dll. It supports DVB EIT, Freesat, OpenTV and ATSC EPG.

You should be able to install it in linux with something like:

Code:
sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb build=beta

I haven't published this is an normal public release because I'm sure there is a few things that will need to be tweaked when we get real UK users giving it a go. Up until now testing has had to fake some bits to make it seem like we were in the UK.

You can get back to the public release by setting nextbuild=stable, and rerunning that apt install.

Just to be clear. I have the latest release of NPVR already installed. I downloaded that NPVR zip file you linked to and ran sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb build=beta as you suggested. System returned.
dpkg: error: cannot access archive 'build=beta': No such file or directory. Just to clarify are there any other changes to be made before I run that command. This is Ubuntu 22.04 lts.

You shouldn't need to download the zip file manually. Running sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb build=beta should be enough. It sounds like it doesn't like that 'build=beta', which we're using to tell it to grab from the beta url.

Martin who created the deb file is away at the moment, and I don't know a lot about it. You could try:

Code:
export nextbuild=beta
sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb

No luck. Same result dpkg: error: cannot access archive 'nextpvr.helper.deb': No such file or directory

Not sure how you guys are doing it but I'd normally remove a package first without removing it's config and then dpkg the new version.

You usually wouldn't have to remove it.

Martin should be online a bit later, and hopefully he'll be able to tell us what we're missing.

Otherwise, to test it out you could stop NextPVR, and manually download the zip, and unzip it into a subdirectory off your home, and run 'dotnet NextPVRServer.dll'. This will leave your existing installed package in place, but should allow you to a test run of this updated version.

Sub I’ll hold back testing until I’m sure I’ve the right method for doing this. Don’t want to hose the OS.

The install uses the same deb file for many versions and you may not have downloaded it properly I am not sure of the sha256 sum. Perhaps download it to /tmp and run from there. Some apt setups don't like user folders

You can try removing the nextbuild=beta and see if it iupdates ok
