Seriously though, I think I now have access to everything I need and I was able to modify the Y! database to enable multiple lineups. I'm just studying the XMLTv format and hope to have a completed test (late) tonight.

Well, you're ahead of me. I have my channels put into the xmltv lineup but hand't thought about multiple lineups. I'll have to think about that after I have the basics done.

I'm now figuring out what parts of the data I need for what. Thanks to you for that Smile

So, what about the UUID problem? Meaning, how will we all get it and from who? I know we still have time (I think) but is Yahoo and Titan going to allow this to happen?
I certainly hope we can get more than 3 days of listings as my memory isn't much better than that now!

There is no UUID per se for the Yahoo GOtv version. Whurlston's program uses the Yahoo database and methods to update and read the epg database.

Using the Yahoo software, I got 14 days.

I picked one of these threads to ask this question... any chance there will be a plugin that allows one click recording of shows from TitanTV?

I liked the feature to schedule a recording from the favorites menu with one click back when I was using the WinTV software. My guess is the answer is no because it looks like this is a server side option and it doesn't look like there is a generic option on the "PVR/Tuner Device Preferences" screen.

whurlston Wrote:There will be a third grabber option as well. I plan on finishing the MCE grabber once the Yahoo grabber is completed. Between the three of them, pretty much everyone in the US should be covered.

Then we just have to figure out how to help our forsaken Canadian buddies. Smile

Yeah, poor us. I started to work on a scrapper that will work with Couchville, but few snags:
a) they use cookies and sessions, so it makes it much more complicated to code than I anticipated. the code will have to imitate all this scenario.
b) too little time for me (and a bit rusty I guess)
c) it's still a web scrapper at the end of the day, so more prune to problems due to future changes (however, it could work both for Canadian and US)
d) it needs an http-GET per show description, as opposed to the TitanTV for example.

On the other hand - what you're saying about the MCE could be the solution, as MCE works well in Canada too.
The only catch here is having to have an MCE machine working somewhere (I guess I could upgrade my GB-PVR machine to be MCE, or have it somewhere else in the house. I wonder what services I will have to stop to make sure performance is adequate, while letting it still pull the EPG data...)

Keep us posted Smile !

Good work guys, looks like its progressing nicely!

One think just crossed my mind.. our recordings database is probably going to get severely messed up unless we can somehow keep our existing capture sources and just change the EPG source without having to delete everything and start over.. wouldnt that really mess up the info for our old recordings?

Hopefully zhed can fix his program that exports and imports the schedule.

I plan on doing it pretty much the same way as I'm doing the Yahoo app. You will just need one machine with MCE or Vista but it does not have to be the same machine that is running GB-PVR.

Sub brought this up already. There will be a program that will that will fix/convert the existing channel entries in the database.

Maybe not the place for this post and I don't want to sound a gripe but I downloaded Yahoo! Go TV and it sucks! I can see it's use for those who are even more computer illiterate than me but jeez, it's just bad!
Has anyone else even tried this? I'm just spoiled is all.
