it's a Hiper Media Center case

http://www.hipergroup.com/English/products/media.html

it required a bit more effort than i'd hoped to get everything in and working without melting, but i'm pretty happy with it now...

Yep I did look at it but it was too slim and wouldn't pack the stuff I needed into it.

ha. doesn't even get used for that anymore - it's not even been plugged in for about 6 months. the only reason it's not gone to the tip is that we have a whole load of prerecorded videos that we've bought over the years - one day i'll get round to transfering them on to the computer and then it'll be history (the video, obviously) Big Grin

Funny you should mention that. I'm currently digitizing my wife's aerobic cassette tapes. The VHS tapes are next on the list...

How are you doing that? I assume you're feeding the VCR into one of your capture cards but what software are you using?

My WinTV PVR USB2 came with some software specifically for that purpose but I can't remember the name. I haven't actually tried it yet (and frankly, consumer level software products of this type are never really that great) but I'm sure it will be easier than cassette digitizing. I have no intentions of adding chapters and that sort of stuff. Just dump to DVD and store it.

This is my setup.

The recording is done with GBPVR and XRecord on a low power PC hidden behind a door also used as web/file/mail/UPnP server without keyboard/monitor. The wireless network accesspoint is visible at the top but except for the laptops everything is connected with a 100MBit/s ethernet

In the living room I use a networked media player for playback. Its the second box from the top. The top box rarely gets used anymore Big Grin

Finally everything gets displayed on a 42" LCD TV

For those interrested, the quilt behind the TV is a "Dear Jane" made by my mother.
