Johnnycam,

I don't know how you figured that out but it worked like a charm. Ive got the files. Now to see what they do. I've got a 4x40 LCD I got a long time ago and never wired up.

Thanks.......Robert

JonnyCam Wrote:I had the same problem. This file is not actually a zip file, but a GZIP one. I opened the "zip" in WinRAR and it contained a file with no extension but had the same name as the file I had opened.

I extracted this file and changed the (non-existent) extension to .zip and then it was fine to open in winzip. If you dont have winrar - just download GZIP from somewhere (it's got a GNU license)

The problem is, the plugin is 72 kb, but the gzip file download is 108 kb - What type of compression is that!
Yes, unfortunately that seems to be a problem with the forum software or web-host. I uploaded it as a zip file, but then when users download it it becomes a zip within a gzip. I have the same problem downloading any such attachment from these forums.

JonnyCam Wrote:I have a problem of my own with the plugin.
I extracted the 2 DLL's into their respective directories and the config file was created in the LCD smartie folder.

But How do I activate the plugin within GBPVR - it doesnt seem to be listed in the plugins tab. I am using GBPVR 0.95.16 (upgrading to the newer version seemed to make my USBUIRT not work - and some other random behaviour.

Do I need to upgrade to use your new plugin?

You don't need to activate the plug-in to use it. There will be no option in GB-PVR you need to tick. All you do is extract the plug-in to GBPVR's plugins folder, run the config utility once on first install (simply overwrite the file to install subsequent releases) to make GBPVR find it, and then when you run GB-PVR it should automatically work.

I developed this plug-in using GBPVR 95.16 so it should work fine in that version. I recently upgraded to 96.08 and it works fine with that also. I am not sure if it will work with earlier versions of GB-PVR, so users will simply have to try it and offer feedback.

Except! I can't seem to get program name and description to appear in TV view. Both are set to true in config file. Anyone else seen this problem?

Yes, I don't think GB-PVR is sending this information, so for now it will only show the channel name and number. When GB-PVR provides this information, it should be displayed.

i had a hack at the old lcd plugin a while back and was able to get this info displayed using the tv gbpvr events and then checking it against the EPG and the current time.

there was one problem, if you paused a tv show and was still watching the old show when a new one started it said you were watching the new show. but thats not that bad....

Thanks for the tip. I decided not to use the EPG at first because I thought perhaps not everyone would have it set up, or if they did have it set up then they could use the OSD to view this information. But it seems people want this working, so I guess it can't hurt to implement this and provide a switch in the config file (off by default) for those willing to use such a workaround.

I'll see if I can come up with some time over the next few days to implement this.

I finally had a word from MO : My LCD is set up to display chinese characters !!!! Anyway it won't be so hard to live without french ones.

Actually i'm only missing one feature : ability to send command directly from GBPVR to LCDSMartie
ie : Would be nice to be able to turn backlight LCD on/off by pressing remote control key witch send command to LCDPlugin and then to LCDSmartie.
Could it be possible to send command via TCP port using commandline ? If so it should not be so difficult to modify irremote.ini or whatever people uses as it's already possible to toggle LCD backlight by pressing "n" key directly within LCDSmartie.

Am I clear enough ?
