To narrow it down for me in the logs, can you give me an example of which recording - what time it was due to start/finish and what actually happened instead?

Tks - I haven't changed my indoor antenna setup or tuner card since the last PC + I did run some level checks that I posted previously that didn't look too bad.
ok, thank Sub - I might run some new recording test today. The other thing is the post title may not perfectly reflect what the situation has morphed into. The two problems have been (a) jerky recording and (b) recording not starting/finishing correctly/fully. I'll run some tests (as it been several weeks) and double check on status of (b) and whether this is occurring too.

will get back to you tonight Unfortunately I'm kind of thinking I may need to buy another tuner card as this one doesn't seem to play well with my latest PC (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core) & noting I've tried several mux versions.....will run test tests first & post and try to rule out anything I might have missed before I do this - have a good day (still waiting for rain over here)
In short for most of these recording on the 1st Nov whilst the apparent recording length may have been more than 5 minutes when watching the video back they (a) can be a bit jerky and (b) stop functioning a few minutes in. When opening them up directly in Media Player the same thing.
Also I noted when the Channel 9 recording during the day GB-PVR was indicating it was still recording this when I got home. I had to restart the recording service.
Anything telling in the logs? I wonder whether it will have to be a new/different tuner card to solve this?

You need to determine if this is a playback or recording thing. Ideally try playing the file in a non-directshow based player like mplayer.exe or VLC. If these players also have problems playing the file, then this points at either the mux or the card itself being the cause of the problem.

That may just be something funny happening with the tray app. From the look of the recording service logs, all the recordings started were stopped. When this happens, check if the recording file is still growing. Also can you try viewing live tv, or scheduling another recording to see if the tuner is really in use?
