Do you mean all your recordings or just Live TV? If you mean all the recordings it may be your card. You might want to try SVideo output instead of composite if you have that option. Also, note that the default recording quality is Medium, and High quality is much better.

If you mean Live TV only, it's probably related to the settings in the direct.ini file you'll find in the gbpvr directory. In this file are the recording quality settings gbpvr users. It defines High, Medium and Low quality, as well as Live TV quality. Live TV is set way too low in my estimation - the same as Medium quality. I always cut and paste the High quality settings in the Live TV section and use those. It makes a big improvement.

senor_fuego Wrote:Also I can still see my computer's outline all around my TV screen. eg. START button and clock and GBPVR at the top left. Can anyone tell me about some other settings where I wont have to worry about burn in issues?

There's a setting on the first tab in the config app that determines whether gbpvr runs full screen or windowed. You have it set to windowed.

Great Info!!!
I will try when I get home and post results.
The .ini file may take the longest.

Thanks

Hang in their! I know how fustrated this HTPC stuff can be! I have been in the PC support Biz for 20 years & I'm considered the "Computer Expert" but I'm brain dead when it comes to this HTPC hardware/software!

I just got started and will take be awhile to get up to speed!

Thanks Bud! I am trying!

OK now reporting yesterday's trial.
I found the settings for full screen mode and changed my direct.ini file to record at the highest setting. I even changed custom2 to reflect the highest recording settings. (I thought that was going to be hard, wasn't too bad!) So now LIVE TV does play a little clearer on S-video.

Know for some other problems: When I go into the guide and search for a program to test record, I find the program and record it. It gives me an option to watch another saved program or watch the program I am recording. When I choose to watch the program being recorded it does not let me? ( I thought that I could watch it while recording it, but NOT another program on that tuner?) So I let it record, change my video input to watch basic cable while it is recording. When I stop the recording to check it, there is nothing but black snow and loud chatter noise. When I cancel the recording and watch the program, I can see the TV program in GBPVR but cannot get it to record. It just records black snow and noise. As if there is no signal.

When I want to record in WINTV. I can but I have to set the channel on the recv'r to what ever I want to record but the WIN TV application sees it at channel 210, the defualt channel that is created when I configured the app. I love the GBPVR setup compared to WIN TV but can't get it to work.

I think it is from the GBPVR config setup? I am using the ZAP app to get the channels. Is there anyway for me to post my setup?

Plus the remote does change the channel on the screen but it does not control the STB? I could do without the remote issue now, I would love just to have GBPVR running.

Thanks

You should be able to. What do you mean by "not let you"? Do you get an error message? Get kicked back to main menu?

This part is confusing to me. Not sure what you mean by "change my video input", but if you do change your video input, then the first video input would no longer be there, hence you can not record it, right?

You could try reproducing the problem, and then post your logs here, and sub or someone might be able to see what is wrong...

I fixed the problem! I am to record. I just set the channels correctly.

I still can not get my Hauppauge 1045 Remote working. When I edit my channel changer, Do I use the generic .exe file? I am confused? Or do I use the haupblast.exe file in the denvs folder?

These things only related using an IR Blaster for controlling an external set top box.

Usually to get this remote working you just need to click the 'fix hauppauge remote settings' button in the config app, then restart the Hauppauge IR app.

When I do click on the button and restart IR, I should be able to control the STB. Would I also be able to use the remote to navigate through GBPVR?

Sorry, I havnt been reading this thread so I dont know your full setup, I just read that one paragraph I quoted, where you seemed to asking how to get your remote working. I'd replied to let you know that those things you mentioned were related to the IR Blasters not the remote (two separate issues often confused as one).

If you need to control an external set top box, they yes you'll also need to set up a channel changer for your capture source.

Remember your remote controls GB-PVR, not the STB. GB-PVR can control the STB using an IR Blaster if you need it to...but this is a different issue.

There are different versions of pvr-150. Some come with an ir blaster, some come without an ir blaster. I'm not sure what the blasters look like (if there are different versions of them), but one looks like the thingy at the bottom of this picture: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/images/pvr-15..._board.jpg

In order to control you set top box you need to have one of those blasters. Either you need a pvr-150 with one included, or you need to get an USB-UIRT. Or build one yourself if you are handy. The donwside to the last option is that it might be tricky to find software to run it. The first two options (pvr-150 blaster and USB-UIRT) both have softwares that run with gbpvr out of the box.

So, first we need to determine if you have one of them blaster thingies.
