One comment though, in order for it to work i had to copy 'MusicLibrary2' and 'Common Dialogs' into '~devnz\gbpvr\skin' directory. I havent seen anyone else complain of this, so i might have missed an instruction to that effect, or had an error in instalation.

Everything working very well here though!

into ~devnz\gbpvr\skin or into ~devnz\gbpvr\skin\skinName

Hopefully the latter..... or I've caused a problem. And no I hadn't seen anyone else mention that, but I think most users would have been previous ML2 users..

Hi to everyone!

I'm a newbie here, although I first tested this nice program in 2005.
Now I'm totally disappointed with the slowest-in-the-world Mediaportal and I would like to configure GB-PVR for me.

I've just installed the plugin and it’s working both in GBPVR and PVRX2, but, to be frank, information about the folders where I should place dlls was a bit mixed-up.

1. I didn’t quite understand the difference between ‘\Common’ and ‘\MusicLibrary2’ folders. Should they be similar or like in *.zip?

2. What’s the place for UltraID3Lib.dll, taglib-sharp.dll and MLUpdater.exe?

3. It’s written that ‘If using SQL-Lite, no Database is required as it will be created’. I scanned music folders and I can see tags in GUI, but when opening configuration form or GUI, there’s a message “You need to specify DB connection details in the config app.’ What *.db3 should it be?

4. When I use SQL-lite or MSAccess databases Russian tags are not readable. Although if I write anything in *.mdb, Russian is supported. I’ve changed encoding to “iso-8859-1” as I did it in Mediaportal or DVBViewer Pro, but it didn’t help.

5 You wrote ‘… install and copy MusicLibrary2.dll and ML2panel.dll to GBPVR\Plugins Directory from GBPVR\Plugins\MusicLibrary2'. I see MusicLibrary2.dll, but I don’t have ML2panel.dll.

The latest 6.7 zip file had these folders with the correct dlls in each. I'm hoping with the next version of gbpvr that we wont need the common directory, but at the moment it is needed for any auxillary dlls that are called by plugins.

bounguine Wrote:2. What’s the place for UltraID3Lib.dll, taglib-sharp.dll and MLUpdater.exe?

MLUpdater can go inthe musiclibrary2 directory - taglip-sharp and ultraid3lib should go in there, and in the common directory - annoying yes I know.

Basically this is saying if you choose sqllite (on the first screen of the ML2 config screen - then you do not need to download a database to use as one will be created on first run - but you still have to choose in that first screen that you want sqllite and what is the database file name

This may be a limitation of either the tab readers (taglib-sharp and/or ultraid3) or how I'm storing it in the database. You could send to my email address (listed in my profile) a russian song and I can have a look at it for you.

The ML2Pannel I dropped for a little while but the original instructructions I sent out may not reflect that this is not part of the package now.

I hope that clears up some of the confusion.

Thank you, Friend!
The song is sent.
But I still didn't quite get what file to choose.
The SQL Lite option is chosen.
Tell me, please, what DB-file I should choose.

Am I to create it myself?
If 'yes', in what way?

If sql lite is chosen, then in that first panel of the musiclibrary2 config there is a box with the full path to a database - it should default to gbpvrdirectory\MusicLibrary2.db3

If that box is empty, use the browse button (...) to browse to save a new db3 file. Then once done, go to the collection paths tab and put at least one music path in there.

You can then either run a scan from the config app, or exit the config app and start pvrx2 then go to musiclibrary and the the menu key (Home)

Hi,

It seems the library update does not work for me. I have it set with the internal library update at 21, no fast scan. Tracks that I have added to the directory days ago still do not show up in ML2. From the log, I can see the last scan is 10 days ago (probably a manual full scan done via the config)

I tried the external MLupdater, but this didn't work either. Instead, it produced a lot of error messages, probably 1 line for each track.

[HTML]27/10/2007 19:03:29 VERBOSE MusicLibrary2: Error reading mp3 fields from db: The type initializer for 'PsycikProductions.MusicLibrary.TrackClasses.Track' threw an exception.
27/10/2007 19:03:29 VERBOSE MusicLibrary2: Error reading parameter : Create Media
27/10/2007 19:03:29 VERBOSE MusicLibrary2: Error reading mp3 fields from db: The type initializer for 'PsycikProductions.MusicLibrary.TrackClasses.Track' threw an exception.

.... goes on like this for hours.....

27/10/2007 23:53:45 VERBOSE MusicLibrary2: Error reading mp3 fields from db: The type initializer for 'PsycikProductions.MusicLibrary.TrackClasses.Track' threw an exception.

2[/HTML]

I read some posts about the dll's, and noticed i do not have the UltraID3Lib.dll, but according the wiki, it is only needed for older version. Still I thought it was worth mentioning.

Surely it is doable to do a manual scan from time to time, but it would be nice to let the machine do the work Smile

It actually looks like your database is dead. Since those read errors look like its having a problem reading a single track out of the db.

For the update problem, post me a full set of logs - i.e. start pvrx2, got into ML2 then post me the pvrx2 logs and the musiclibrary2 logs.

Ok, so here's what I was looking for for the scanning:
Code:
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    Setting returned is 0 from: /settings/PluginSettings/MusicLibrary/FastScanInterval
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    Setting returned is 21 from: /settings/PluginSettings/MusicLibrary/ScanHour
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    Setting returned is 1 from: /settings/PluginSettings/MusicLibrary/ScanDay
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    Setting returned is 200710211538 from: /settings/PluginSettings/MusicLibrary/LastScan
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    MusicLibrary2: Setting scan time to 30/10/2007 21:00:00

and

Code:
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    MusicLibrary2: Initialising Scan Time to: 21
30/10/2007 20:36:57    VERBOSE    MusicLibrary2: Initialising Scan Day to: 1

Can youl leave it funning for an hour or so and then post me the logs again so I can see if the timer is being triggered.

Its been a while since I left mine running with the internal updating, and maybe I busted something.
