time_lord Wrote:# Locked = Y Present = Y Strength = -20 Quality = 100%Ok, maybe the weather IS to blame. Last saturday significant rain hit... so I re-ran the tests and the scanner tool could not lock onto any signal. Nothing. So I guess no measurable strength and/or quality.
etc... I've tried this several times over the last 2 days and it seems very consistent (although waiting for some rain). So reception (at this point) doesn't appear to be the reason for continuity errors.
BTW, can you tell me why the strength is listed as "-20"? Is that some SNR, decibels or something like that?
I've been googling and others report that the HVR2200 card (and some others in the Hauppauge range) can suffer badly if the signal reduces. They can be all or nothing, i.e if they don't get a lock then it's as if there is no signal there at all.
Interestingly 24 hours later after sun and a good drying breeze, the scanner tool was still giving me nothing. Watching livetv in gbpvr was very stuttery. [It took maybe 48 hours for things to improve; maybe my system gets water caught in a splitter box or something.]
Anyone with similar experiences?
