It seems pretty straight foward to me. The only way you'd get highdef from a set top box is if your capture card had a HDMI or Component video input. Your HVR-2250 doesnt have either of these inputs so definitely wont get HD from a set top box.

Well, I just ran WinTV and had it scan for channels, and it found NO Digital channels - what is going on here?

Take a look at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39009 and see if that has any effect.

OK - I first remove all Haupauge software. Rebooted, did not install anything, then ran hwclear.exe. Rebooted, came up, manually pointed to the downloaded drivers. Looks like it installed OK - then installed the WinTV app. Now this is what I get in WInTV!? Kinda like a fly's eye!

Was the video driver! I installed the latest ForceWare drivers for my 7900GS and that's what caused it - downgraded (to a 2006 version) and it looks fine now. Also, when I ran WinTV, it now finds lots of digital channels! Yippee, maybe I'm on my way to getting somewhere? Any way I can use the channels that WinTV finds to map channels in GBPVR? It is in an .mdb database, so getting the info should be easy!

I've heard this proposed several times, but so far no one has posted how to transfer tuning data from WinTV to GBPVR. If WinTV is tuning, it's pretty easy to have GBPVR do a scan. What results do you get now with GBPVR's scan? If you decide to figure out how to transfer tuning data from WinTV, be sure to post here and tell us all about it.

Haven't looked at the database yet, but I think it has frequencies and their assigned channel number. Anyway, after the complete rebuild, my Capture devices screen is a little different - it has Digital Recording Plugin, rather than BDA Recording Plugin, which I believe is correct. No one pointed this out to me regarding my last capture card attachment (this IS correct for this card, right??). I can't even figure out how I got the BDA Recording Plugin to pick - it is no longer there!

I haven't had a chance to check out the scan yet, maybe get some time tonight.

So, is this correct vs. my other settings (BDA Plugin - http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...count=10)? How did I manage to get that BDA Plugin in the first place??

OK - I found a channel KCHW-HD - but it is not in the channel list to map to? What do I do now?

This is driving me nuts! I have many stations in the 74, 75, 76, 77, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, and 104 block that DO NOT SHOW UP IN THE CHANNEL SCAN! Basically, I can only find 2 or 3 channels to map with (and none of those are the local HD channels, just the secondary or tertiary channels for that channel, i.e. news or weather)! What the heck is going on here?? I can find many Latin channels, but don't want them!
