JavaWiz Wrote:Exact filenames would be helpful so I can recreate.

I'm assuming that you want the program to work with what's there rather than have the User, manually rename their files.

(Though that might be a feature) "Popup: WizMetaGrabber has NO IDEA what your feeding me, care to rename your file into something that makes sense to me?)

Anyway, here's some files that have a lot of trouble, and that I though Wiz SHOULD be able to parse...

The Time Machine (1960).avi
The Time Machine 2002.avi
(Both return the 1978 version - I have played with brackets etc). Looked up the IMBD page and the 1960 version at least should be an exact match.

The Queen
Even adding a year doesn't help

GALAXY_QUEST.avi
Doesn't parse out the underscore

Lord of the Rings I.CD1.avi
Lord of the Rings I.CD2.avi
(OK, when I help it along by adding 'Fellowship' I get the correct hit) same for 'Towers' and 'King'. I suppose this would be a great time for a list popup, to choose, rather than having to remember the subtitles key words...)

STAR_WARS_I.avi
(Might be the same, I wish I would not have to remember how to spell Phantom or Meanice (sic) at 3:00am)

Back To The Future I.avi
(Looks like the first one isn't known as the first one - just like WWI was not known as WWI until the WWII came out)
(Also Part I and Part II are actually known as Part 1 and Part 2)

Star.Trek.-.The.Motion.Picture.1979.cd1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_2_-_the_wrath_of_khan_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_3_-_the_search_for_spock_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_4_-_the_voyage_home_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_5_-_the_final_frontier_-_part_1. (worst episode EVER).avi
star_trek_-_movie_6_-_the_undiscovered_country_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_7_-_generations_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_8_-_first_contact_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_9_-_insurrection_-_part_1.avi
star_trek_-_movie_10_-_nemesis_-_part_1.avi

(Then there are those multi part movies (don't know why all movies needed to rip in parts, Star Trek 5 could have been shrunk to fit on a floppy) not to be confused with 'Back To The Future Part 2')

Also< I have a lot of Disney rips. And exclude string, may make the searches work better:
Disney Classic - 01 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.avi
Disney Classic - 13 - Alice In Wonderland.avi
Disney Classic - 06 - Saludos Amigos.avi << comes out Three amigos
Disney Classic - 07 - The Three Caballeros.avi <<comes out Three amigos
etc
(If I could have excluded 'Disney Classic - ' on the first 'huh?' dialog, I'd have 44 other movies done without a dialog)

And yeah, I mentioned this before, but I'm getting strange country of origin information

And finally another idea: I'd like to manually edit the text in the preview and either manually insert my own clipart or delete the screen one that is auto chosen (rather have none than the wrong one)

I suspect that much of this could be taken care of with a 'I'm not quite sure, here's a list of what I got' dialogue....

Zehd,

Give this version a try. It may not be perfect, but should be a bit better.

If there are alternate titles available, a list can be requested and you can select the better entry.

Sounds like what the doctor ordered... I'll try later and let you know... Thanks

I have tried the new version and it is exactly what Ive been looking for. I am now able to get info on all my movies. A couple of observations/requests:

1. Searchig for files in a directory you already have retreived in, the program crashes with: Unhandled exception... An error occurred while parsing entityname. LIne 3 positions 24.

2. Due to long path names, I am not able to see the filenames in the listbox. Is there anyway to make the window scrollable?

3. In one older version also Actors and directors were scraped. Any way to chose to include these in the discription?

Let me know if you need any other info.

Thanks,

Hmm.. I am unable to recreate. Sounds like an invalid .xml file. Zip and post the log, I'll see if there is enough detail to troubleshoot.

Done. Try this version.

Option screen allows you to append fields to the description. You will have to re-retrieve the data for the logic to generate the description to kick-in.

Note you can edit the fields by dbl-clicking on the text box with the xml metadata.

JavaWiz, the new version is close to perfect. Really, really good. However, my issue with the crashing app is still present. It happens on both my work computer as well as at home. I have also deleted the xml i between restarting the app. Attaching logs and screenshot. If I remove the retrieved xmls and jpegs, the program searches without crashing. Also, if I can add one more scroll request it would be for the window with alternative hits.

Thanks,

Ok, nothing much in the log. I will add logging around the suspect code and try to isolate the problem.

Additionally, the alternates hits dialog has the ability to be re-sized (grab the lower left corner and drag), but I will also put horizontal scroll bars on that list.

I'll try to post a more verbose logging version later today or this weekend.

Ok additional logging and error trapping in this version. Let me know how it works, if all is good, I'll post it on the Wiki.

JavaWiz, I think I may have found the problem causing the error. Any character "&" in an XML causes the application to log an error. It does not crash anymore though. Check the attached log and see if you can recreate the problem with the two XMLs Im attaching.
