sub Wrote:Generally with a Hauppauge card its as simple as you suggest, ie if you can a channels with WinTV, you'll also get the channels with GB-PVR.

I can only go on the info in your logs, and it has no sign of any errors in the logs, and everything appears to be working correctly, but the device never manages to lock any signal. The only possible reasons I can think of is your cable was connected correctly when you scanned in WinTV, but isnt when you tried GB-PVR, or its scanning the wrong frequencies. No that you'v fixed the 'GBPVR Psi Parser' filter not registered problem, it'd be good if you could retry the original QAM.ini that ships with GB-PVR rather than those generated by the QAM manager utility.

If that doesnt work, you can either bring your PC around to my house to take a look (I'm in New Zealand Big Grin), or if you've got VNC I could remote in and take a look for you.

if it wouldnt be any trouble, i wouldnt mind trying the VNC method..

well, Sub generously helped by connecting to my machine a while back, but he ran out of time, and hasn't had time to try again. Does anyone else have any ideas?

just a refresher, WinTV detects QAM channels, GBPVR does not, and I've scanned using QAM.ini manager's different settings, and still, nothing.

Have you looked at the QAM.INI manager thread (here)? That utility may provide INI settings that will get you scanning in GBPVR.

Additionally, on post #65 in that thread, I provided a little utility that creates the qam.ini based on the entries in the WinTV db, so it should match what WinTV finds. I've only tested on my machine, so not sure it will work with All version of WinTV (and I have a 1600, not an 1800, but I don't think that should matter).

Also, if you already have a card mapped for the QAM channels, you might be able to use WizBDAChannelTool (found on Wiki under Utilities-WizUtilites) to copy mapping from one card to another.

Well, I've tried the QAM.ini manager on it's own before, and I've never mapped any other cards, so I gave your tool a try. When I have GBPVR scan with the qam.ini file generated, it gives me an error about "GBPVR could not start the BDA device...blah", and a .net error that said the "input string was in an invalid format". When it first started to scan, I noticed the channel was "=52200", usually I don't see the "=", so maybe that's an issue?

ok, I opened up the qam file, and there were two "=" symbols for each channel, so I removed one, and this time the scan started without error. It hangs up though. The first channel 522000,0,0, Strength: -20000 Quality:100. It sits there for a while, then the program stops responding. I've attached a log file.

Perhaps if you could zip and post your hwChanDB_5.mdb (WinTV database), and the resulting qam.ini file the program generates, I'll see if I can spot anything...

BTW: Was bug in program with ==, I've fixed and uploaded new version.

I've looked at your wintv db, and don't notice anything significantly different from mine. I did notice, it looks like the last time you scanned in WinTV was on or around 2/26/2009. You might try backing up your WinTV database, and then running another WinTV QAM scan to see if you get the same results.
