I am experiencing the exact same issue, so it's not just b00sfuk.
What steps are needed to install the patch? I assume just overwrite the original file?

Playing with it at the moment. Really weird as the registry entry is updating every time I press F7 but if I stop the recording then start it again, the entry & screen are immediately set back to AUTO. Nothing in the logs that might help as it just says what the source aspect ratio is of the file. I shall not worry about it as the solution works and I'll be reinstalling when I move to NPVR so hope it would be OK then.
Ah - I think I know what happened. I only added the logic correctly for .TS and .MPG files. I'm guessing you were testing with some other file type, like .AVI or .MKV?

Just done some more testing and I can get it work OK with .TS but still fails with .MPG and .DVR-MS.

as you appear to have ended patches for 1.5.36, which suggests a new release is approaching, I guess it's time to lobby for my favorite fix or feature....

any chance you'll be fixing the Auto aspect ratio so it works like in GB-PVR?

I think we should let sub finalize the next version and freeze whatever features he has in store, so we get a really stable "release" version. After that let's all go nuts asking for new features. I think it is too much for sub to try and address everyone at this point.

No worries, I don't expect sub to address everyone at this point.. just me Wink

I agree with you in principle of course, but not being on the testing team I really don't know how close the next release is or what it's level of 'frozenness' is. All I know is that sub is no longer constrained by maintaining code compatibility with the last release, and that the aspect ratio features discussed in this thread have not worked what I consider correctly since day 1. As we start to get past the huge "the whole thing done broke" bugs, now the smaller daily annoyances start to take center stage, like having to hit F7 to correctly display almost every program, particularly when the old software handled it correctly.

Fixing up the Auto Aspect Ratio also just feels more like a "changed in the next release" sort of thing, rather than a "here's a patch for that" sort of thing.

Quite a discussion going here!

sub, I know this isn't an "easy" fix, but I think the end-all solution here would be to either remember / be able to set aspect ratio settings for each capture source.. for each channel would probably be overkill, but per capture source is a good measure so that people can set their 4:3 analog stuff to be stretched/pillarboxed/whatever, and keep the 16:9 things on auto / fill.

I hope you agree, because this would benefit me too. Smile

I can tell you there is no chance I'll be remembering/setting the aspect ratio on a per capture source basis. That is madness Big Grin and doesnt help for playback of recordings later (which are not associated with any capture source at that point).
