Just to report in, this patch fixes the issue of the client eventually freezing. However, now the client is unable to change channels! When a new channel is selected, the client becomes non-responsive and must be task killed.

I'm still having the same issue. The patch sub gave me solves the client freezing up after a period of time which is fantastic, but introduces an issue that the client stops responding if you try to change channel (have to end task in task manager).

I haven't tried the patch but isalso looking forward to a solution to this issue. As long as this problem persists I can't watch anything on my laptop....

I have had this issue on my clients ever since I have been using NPVR (using different versions of NPVR and on a number of clients) - over a year now. Using certain A/V decoders helps, but not completely. I can change channels a few times, but after a while, NPVR eventually freezes and the task must be killed. Not particularly a show stopper for me, but really ticks off my wife, who is a addicted channel surfer.
