Marbles... try to build the database by executing it directly... also use the version 2.7.0 in post 555 until he releases the fix... I tested and its running great (however for USA) your logs look a lot like mine did, the initial database takes over an hour. Your other issue may be be the fact that you are in Canada and DH may have more suggestions/fix you/he may need to do to get it to work. Attach your JIT .net errors and that should help DH understand what might be standing in your way. I hope he can help you!

Thanks Snooze for the suggestion of that version, I'll give it a go.

I will include the JIT errors when I get them. I got a bunch when I first started, then I realized some silly errors, like not have .Net 3.5 installed. When it bogs down like it does, I just usually cancel/close the software...do a bunch of reading up (maybe see something here on the forums), and try again. I saw that other post (on page 11 I think) that it was taking the poster 20hours and still not done, so I tried to implement the suggestions that were told to him, but I'm still having the issues.

Marbles_00 Wrote:Hey guys, I've been trying to get this app to work, but I'm having all sorts of issues. I've been trying this out on two separate computers. One using the most recent build, the other using the previous build still (I know I have to update that one), but the issues seem to be across the board. Both machines have .Net 3.5 SP1 installed (one even has .Net 4)

1. For the life of me, I can't seem to get the TX Database Build.exe to work. It starts, but then seems to just shut down. This happens on both machines.

2. I try and use TX Desktop, and it starts to build the database, gets to about 13% to 15% (500 or 3717 titles) and then just bogs down. Again this is on both machines. Funny thing is that it doesn't bog down on one specific title, but random titles...just seems when it hits 13%, it just stops.

I want this app to work, but I can't figure out why it isn't.
Attached is my log file

Here is the contents of my ini file that I set up on both machines:
Open SGID=0
Time to renew=0 *I've also tried this at a setting of 1
Default Font=14.25
Back Color=Chocolate
Fore Color=White
Update Stars=False
Last Viewed=False
Update Notification=True
Use Secondary Screen=False
Rated Viewable=True
Canadian=True

NOTE: at one point I was able to get to about 70%, then I got a .Net crash...but first things first, and I'd like to get to that point again.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Perfect, I've been in need of a Canadian Big Grin The problem you are running into might be the same as Snooze was, but I wasn't sure the canadian site changed similar to the US, so I've been in need of your services. Please let me know if the following links work:

Does this take you to your instant queue: http://movies.netflix.ca/Queue?qtype=ED
If not, please send me the web address to your instant queue.

Does this take you to Watch Instantly genre - comedy: http://movies.netflix.ca/WiGenre?sgid=307&vt=tg
or does this: http://www.netflix.ca/WiGenre?sgid=307&vt=tg
or do they both?

Does this take you to a movie listing: http://movies.netflix.ca/WiMovie/Kevin_H...height1231
or does this: http://www.netflix.ca/WiMovie/Kevin_Hart...height1231
or do they both?

Play a movie and let me know whether the web address starts with http://www.netflix.ca or http://movies.netflix.ca

THANKS!

Snooze Wrote:Hey!!! 131 ratings! Thats great!

Yeah I was up to a 3.7 star rating but then I got 4 or so 1 star ratings all for some iphone app. That ticks me off! I might need to design a logo so people don't mix us up any more. Smile And I'm still the only stand-alone windows based Netflix viewer.

Wow, you guys are good...and fastSmile

First, Snooze, I downloaded that zip from the post you mentioned, and currently using the Database builder, I'm sitting at 27% complete (1000 of 3717 movies)

DH, to answer your questions:
1. Get's an error
2. First link - error, second link - good
3. First link - error, second link - good
4. Movie link is http://www.netflix.ca

Hope that helps.

Hey Marbles,

OK, that is what I thought, I goofed. I didn't mean to change the queue link for the canadian site, but I did accidentally. So I need you to go to http://www.netflix.ca and click on your queue and click on the instant queue tab and copy/paste that web address into here for me.

Thanks,

-DH

You might as well shut it down... I think the last I looked it should be over 11,000. Its up to DH to help you now... its most likely the links.

Yeah I seen the iPhone people were trying to use it... that sucks. Maybe a Windows XP/Vista/7 PC label would clear things up. I only use it on XP BTW. I got to go move snow now!!! Sad

I'll probably just let this database build go, this way I can work on setting up the remote on that machine, and see how it all works. I can worry about rebuilding again once DH fixes what he needs to do.

Thanks again guys, in this short while, I'm making some headway, and looking forward to seeing how this app really works out.

No, Canada has a different list of movies. Apparently they need to get distributions rights separately for Canada and the US, so the Canadian list isn't as large, but has some movies that we don't get.
