Preliminary release 2b of the CommunitySkin, ready for GBPVR .98, has been uploaded to the wiki. Download and run the installer.

Now also includes the skin plugin, allowing for on the fly theme and image changes.

Just installed this and so far I like what I see. I have not had a chance to really test all of it but so far it looks good.

I do have a question about the weather panel. My wife like it on the main menu so I edited the skin.xml and added it. However later she was playing with the skin options and the weather panel no longer showed up. Where do I add it so that it will show up when changes are made.

She might have changed "Themes" in the SkinPlugin. That will overwrite changes with the default version. (copy custom changes to the appropriate \Skin\SkinPlugin\MainMenu folder).

If you make the change again, post the main menu skin.xml file and I will add that to the theme and main menu. Anybody who has custom edits, please post them and they will be included.

Speaking of panels, now that we are on the subject, I imagine some of the popular ones should be included.

ML2Panel

VA panel is sort of the "Super" panel that can handle quite a bit. I can see MusicPanel and ML2Panel occupying the same screen realestate, just maybe both commented out.

This is something that needs to be thought out more.

My thought is that all Main Menu's need to allow space for and define panel xmls for all panels. This is what I'm doing with the Sassari theme main menu/panels. (was why I aksed about panels in another thread).

Out of interest, what does ML2Panel do that MusicPanel doesn't? Also, what can the VA panel do?

You might take a look at how Plain Jane does it.

The VA panel approach is very nice in that one piece of real estate can be used for multiple messages.

Also, you'll probably want to put the music panel below the visualization. BTW, MusicPanel doesn't require any specific plugin, I don't know about ML2Panel.

The MusicPanel and ML2Panel are very similar, there may be features that differ between them, but I haven't looked into both close enough to know what they may be. The MusicPanel I believe can work "standalone" without any of the MySeries plugins. ML2Panel may also work without MusicLibrary2, I don't know.

VA panel can show just about everything in one solution, and is a part of the Video Archive plugin.
