I found and installed YAWCAM, set it to create a .jpg in the gbpvr directory on the server every 10 secs, used gbpvr config to add the .jpg URL with a 10 sec refresh on my client, started up gbpvr and there is my image in glorious camcolour.
However, there is something still not quite right - I can see a little blip in local network load every 10 secs (could be coincidental - still to check this with other refresh rates) but I don't always get a refresh of the image on gbpvr client (haven't checked for same on server).
YAWCAM occasionally complains that it cannot find the path to save the image blah blah and stops - obviously it tried to write the .jpg at the same time as gbpvr on client was reading it to refresh.
So I've got a bit to do yet, but it's a promising start...
