stefan Wrote:I still haven't got it to work. There were, however, two separate problems. One being that the nova-t-500 is a dual tuner, and there were problems with decoding two streams at once. That problem, I think, has been taken care of.

The other problem was that the mdapi doesn't work well with the nova-t-500 for some reason. It decrypted stuff, but only like one frame every 20 seconds, if at all. I haven't heard of that problem being fixed. No one would be happier than me if it is fixed, though Smile
I had a T-500 that worked well with free channels, but decrypted channels are not working with mdapi. According to the author of mdapi the problem probably lies in the buffer settings. The source code is available so if anybody wants to delve into the problems there is noone to stop you Smile.

I got rid of the T-500 and instead got a terratec 2400, also a dual tuner but with pci-x (freeing my pci slots for other stuff). That one unfortunaltely also has problems with mdapi. It works perfectly about 50% of the time, but sometimes it just gets unbearably choppy. So I have disabled all the encrypted channels for that tuner card and using another tuner card, a Twinhan for the encrypted channels.

I would love to get the Terratec to work fully with mdapi too.

I have tried several, but not all, and not the latest. They have all been reported as buggy so I am waiting for a stable release. However with the latest improvements from Sub with out-of-process recordings one might not stumble upon the bugs that other are suffering from so I might check it out though.

The only one I'm aware of is "Agarwal's MDAPI DirectShow filter" from dvbn.happysat.org.
I'm not always right

There is a thread on the forum with follow ups and some new developments from new developers trying to improve on the filter.

Also there is two different "official" releases, the last stable from the closed source and then the open source based one that Agarwal created when releasing the code.

I just scanned the thread over there again, and it seems a lot of issues have been fixed in the last few days. Many happy users. Maybe it's time to give it a try again a rainy day this summer Smile
